Oxi One Hardware Sequencer

I appreciate the response. May I ask if that’s due to a technical limitation, lack of interest from others, or some other reason?

Looks like there are actually two new products in this video :open_mouth:

You most likely have

Make sure to reach out directly to Manu via mail  (hello ät oxiinstruments).

Yes, a new FX module from Oxiinstruments. Still in development, demo model maybe shown on the Superbooth.

My main gripe with the Oxi One is the lack of attention given to chords. You go on their Discord group and its a total cluster fck rabbit hole of users banging on about triggers and probabilities. It never ends. We could have armageddon and there will be one surviving user complaining about the forth note in a 32nd triplet arp doesnt trigger as expected.

The chord aspect needs improving. We cant mix up Bank A and Bank B chords as saved user chords - they are tethered to the chord matrix so will constantly change chords to whatever bank. Also it would be amazing to take the saved user chord (pads) into a key view and play chords and keys at the same time.

At the moment it feels like a constant battle to not create loopy or droney stuff with the Oxi. Just needs more attention i feel to the creative musical aspect of it.

That’s true for all Discord channels tho because there’s little to no structure, endlessly repeating chats about the same things (while many other things disappear uncommented into the void) and little effort regarding post quality because it’s “just a chat”. (not even talking about the knowledge there buried and hidden from search engines)

Generally it’s also easy to get a biased perception about user demand with such kinda chats because only a handful of people will invest their time and energy there.

But maintaining a proper solution (aka Discourse with plugins to vote topics, chat integration and even roadmap support) costs more money and effort while OXI Instruments is a startup and Manu has shitloads of things to do.

Make sure these requests are covered here too https://oxiinstruments.com/forum/t/feature-suggestion

Yeah i have mentioned the chord thing a few times to the dev

I’ve owned an Oxi before. My current isn’t working, but I’m working on that. I don’t think it’s the Oxi. I always wanted chords to stay the exact same and copy into a poly track in the exact same key without transposing, but that never seemed to work. Does that work now? While maintaining key.

Sounds more likely to be your configuration (though hardware issues are not impossible, of course)

  • What cables have you tried?
  • What’s the USB host? Have you tried seeing if your phone charges in the same? Are there any USB power settings in the BIOS?
  • Have you tried a different, dedicated USB power adapter?
  • Have you tried going direct instead of your hub?

Now you can do: copy to poly (chromatic)
Then change the scale to the original one with the scale quantization on. That would place the notes on the right positions of the scale.

It’s a lot of fun and we made a new tutorial!

Will have to try! Really love that kind of sequencing!

You made this the greatest product known to man.

Thank you for your help! Plugging it in separately into USB C with a different cable without a hub solved the problem.

Seconded! Oxi One is the ultimate hardware sequencer.

I’m a horrible person for it but i have moved to software with a KKmk3 with my Push 3. It feels like hardware though with the right workflow.

Agree on chords, I find it so close but so far away at the same time.
The user chord slots thing was originally a suggestion of mine, from my time using a kordbot so props to the Devs for including it, however it’s frustrating the way it switches as you describe and also by key.
Some of us wanna add chords that are not in a ‘set’ scale so would be great to have an ‘untethered’ mode. Also raised this on discord and a few people were interested but, like you say, I get the impression not loads of people are building tracks with complex chord progressions (?)

Further expansion on chord functions in the Oxi One like in Cthulhu, Reason Chord sequencer or Roland J-6 would be amazing!
