Oxi Instruments E16 MIDI-Controller

Too bad it’s most unlikely they do a version with faders.

As for the information on the display, It’s tiny, yes. But I’d say it requires just some planning ahead and once you’re set up with the definition you require, you mostly don’t need it.

I’d actually sell my EC4 to get this. Looks way better at parameter managment and building quality.

I really like the Oxi One and think this company has some great skill at designing a controller. I want something like this, but I have two concerns:

Price. 500-600 USD is just too much for me.

MIDI overload. I easily can entirely block up midi traffic going to my devices using a single MIDI LFO on the Oxi One. It’s just been too easy for me to hit the physical limits of how much automation and data I pump out. I’m not sure I need more.

I’ve had one for a while and it does everything it supposed to really well. I was actually surprised not to see it here before. I’m very happy with mine.

Hm, so that’s 100 more than the TimePod…
Hard to choose.
Do I really need that screen for the somewhat basic use I make?

EDIT: I’d be curious to see how they compare in terms of encoder resolution.

Me too. So does “12 pages and 16 controls per page” mean that’s the total storage capacity? Or is that per preset? Seem limiting if that’s the case. The EC4 seems limitless in that regard in comparison…

The MSRP for TimePod is the same; there seems to be a current preorder discount. I would like to see a head-to-head comparison. But country of origin and shipping logistics are likely to make a big difference, at least for me.

From what I understand, it works like this: You can choose from 16 scenes. Each scene has 12 pages. Each page has 16 controls. Each of the 16 scenes has 16 presets. And you can also create snapshots to morph between.

Whats peoples pref / recommended dented or non dented?

If defended is limited edition it was probably a batch they tested but preferred non defended going forward which will be the standard.

I decided to go with non-detented. Just a matter of personal preference. I figured that when morphing between snapshots, I would prefer a smoother knob turning experience.

Thank you OK that looks great then. So now its detents vs no detents, leaning detenetless so that’s what I’m used to.

Also don’t non detended encoders have higher resolution?

Guess it depends on how they implemented it in software.

Yeah but it means with non detented they could “add” more resolution in the future if needed by software. Or user could even chose different resolution per knob /template depending on what he’s controlling.
