The dented one goes 30 clicks for one complete revolution. So it takes 4 full turns + 7 clicks to go to CC 127. This is default. You can change the division of the encoder in the app to require more clicks/turns of the encoder to go to 127. Like 15 clicks to go from CC0 to CC1. Or go the opposite way and have it go to CC127 with one full turn but it jumps by 3 or 4 CC’s at a time. Not sure what the resolution is on the non-dented encoder is.
Is this the info you need?
Hi! Thanks for the info. I’m looking for the non detent version, which I think it should have more steps per turn …
Hi, I’m new to midi controllers and looking at this to pair with a Tonverk. I see that each encoder can be assigned to two cc parameters. Can the encoder control each cc independently or are they linked? I can’t find an answer to that and was wondering whether that might be done via the shift control or somesuch. I’d like each page to always have eight volume/level controls for the Tonverk tracks and I’m trying to figure out if that means that I lose them for other purposes or if that can be a secondary function for each of those encoders? Thanks.
They work together. You can assign different ranges though.
F.e. Filter resonance and frequency.
Still trying to figure out other use cases for it.
You can also set on same knob push button, to go to Default state. Good for transitions.
Also don’t forgot that you can assign a knob to MW, PB, AT, BC as well. And all of them can have 4 additional destinations.
Got it! thanks for that.
Curious about the resolution of the E16 - the Neuzeit Drop, for example, reportedly has 14 ‘usable’ bits from its ADC, and apparently in 14-bit cc mode with certain encoder settings it can actually increment a value between 0 and 16,383 in values of +/- 1. Is that possible on the E16?
Well, any encoder can do this, but the question is more, how many rotations you’d have to do. I doubt there is any encoder in the world that has 16383 values across one rotation.
But in the end, I guess it’s not that much important, when you combine feeling + diameter + acceleration. I mean, nowadays encoders have a pretty good accuracy.
Or am I missing something ?
Ah yes, of course makes perfect sense - my understanding was that on some devices the converters limit the resolution, and that software interpolation precludes the ‘single number increment’ - otherwise, as you say, you’d have to turn a ridiculous number of rotations.
But I suppose the acceleration scheme means the speed of the rotation determines the span of the increment?
Is the resolution of both versions the same?
Hi, thanks for the instructions for linking up the DT and DN with the E16. Transport does not seem to be working on the DN, You mentioned changing port 2 to Thru, I can’t seem to find a way to do this in the app or on the device? Any advise?
I saw they updated this week but didn’t see anything about midi feedback, did I miss that in the release notes?
You’re right, it doesn’t figure in the release notes but it is implemented now.
Have you had it working? Weird it’s not in release notes. Thought that was one of the main things people were asking for.
It was in the previous release note:
OXI E16 Firmware 0.5.6 Release (04/02/2026)
Add: Midi learn
Add: Midi feedback
Add: Transmit all Global Setting
Add: Remember last page
Add: “Swap Destination” push action
Fix: Recording jitter, clear, and page-specific playback
Fix: Set to default issues
Fix: Several menu improvements
Fix: “Transmit all” discrepancies
Change: Migrate non-MIDI push/turn actions to Special Menu
You can track the releases here if you don’t want to hand on Discord Releases · OXI-Instruments/OXI-E16-Releases · GitHub
I did not see that, maybe I was reading wrong release notes
Going to try it when I get home thanks for the post.
Yes ![]()
They released a new one a week later. Manuel is really keeping busy with frequent E16, Oxi one Mk1 and 2 releases now.
OXI E16 Firmware 0.5.7 Release (11/02/2026)
New Things:
- Push action LED ring indicator
Fixes:
- Fix controls mirror controls which have different page channels
- PC is now 1-128 not 0-127
- Set to default showing wrong values on screen
- Smart default: If Bipolar is set in device it defaults to zero
- Smart default: Switching form 7bit to 14bit type retains lsb
Changes:
- Control with “Push Action: CC mode: Press&Release” can be held now without it switching into group view
Yup, go to Config(first screen when turned on, 8th knob)
Then Midi, Trs thru - On.
That’s it
Works great with digi boxes.
One thing in settings , in midi Config/port config encoder destination needs to be int+ext.
