I finally took a leap of faith and installed Overbridge 2.0 and the beta firmware for my Digitone and so far so good. I’m really surprised that it works so well, amazing!
I am using:
MacBook Pro 2,2 GHz i7
16 GB Ram
MAC OSX 10.13
DAW = Studio One 4
I have two questions though.
How do I set the gain stage when I am recording to my DAW?
Is it possible to only hear the software monitoring signal within my DAW and not the direct signal from my Digitone?
I saw that Olle wrote this for the Digitakt. Settings > System > USB config > “Int to Main” to “Off”.
But I can’t find that setting on my Digitone.
I don´t believe that this is possible. Ableton shows only one Midi Port from the DT / DN. This allows you to sequence VST or any other midi synths from the DT sequencer - a cool feature! Midi Channels 1-8 reflect the eight midi channels of the DT. You can experiment with this, maybe there is a way to use a midi channel to forward the Keystep to Ableton.
BUT: why don´t you grab an USB hub? Overhub is not necessary to work with the Elektron hardware. I have a very old and cheap USB 2.0 hub and three Overbridge devices + Push 2 + Keystep are running on the same port. Works perfectly!
No problem. Good to have the info out there.
I spent a little more time trying to tune up my system and I think I’ve been able to get rid of the pitch issues that I was having (upon playback during the first bar or two) by unchecking Anticipative FX Processing under Preferences, Buffering. Unfortunately nothing I do seems to get rid of the glitches I’m hearing during those first couple of bars. Playback clears up after that, if you plan ahead and have a blank pattern playing for two bars as lead it you can avoid it all… I’d like to eliminate it though
I also seem to have to run my system with buffers at 128, and Driver Performance Mode set to Highest in order to eliminate the pitch wavers.
I’m running Win7Pro64bit, i5-2400 @ 3.10ghz, 4gb on a Dell Optiplex 990. Under requirements and so close to having this working
Did you try removing the plugin from the blacklist in Cubase? I just got my Digitakt three days ago and I’m having such a blast with it so far I’m a little leery about installing a beta firmware update. I’d love to try Overbridge but I kind of want some confirmation that it will (probably) work for me (also using Cubase 10 on Windows 10 64).
Anyway, Cubase blacklisted some NI plugins on my system (Replika XT, Phasis) and I re-enabled them and they’ve worked fine with no problems or instability, so I’m just curious if you’ve tried that with Overbridge.
I just choose my DN as a sound card in the preferences in Studio One 4 and that’s all. So my best advice is to look at the preferences and choose your DN as a sound card. Can you see your DN as an option in the sound card setting?
It’s checked. I presume this is the default setting as I didn’t know about this feature and had to look up where to find it. I see that it has an effect on latency. What’s your advise on turning this on or off?
Wel finaly after 2 weeks i seem to have solved the issue…now i have to install the rest to see it stay’s stable…
I removed all audio drivers that were not needed, downgraded my video card driver, if you have a choice buy a amd video card, my nvidia is part of 90 % of the latancy i have…and finaly i flahed my bios…runs smooth and stable now !!
If you’re not having any issues I wouldn’t bother changing the settings.
I’m curious now if in your case unchecking it improved or made latency worse?
In my case unchecking it seemed to allow for better playback (no more pitch waver, but I get a consistent glitch during the first time through a pattern, step 29 of a 48 step pattern, 131bpm - This using the Overbridge plug in as described in option 2)
I was having latency issues all around until I set up my ASIO options in the stand alone OB Digitakt app, it’s been pretty tight since
I know I’m not going to be getting any feedback from Elektron as I am using Win7, but for others with a similar set up that are reading this, maybe worth mentioning that my main soundcard is an M-Audio Delta 1010LT
Thanks!
edit: Just came across this video, if you Insert a Virtual Instrument (from the Insert Menu), chose Digitakt, then Reaper asks if routing should be built! That’s way easier! Automatic
This never came up in my searches until today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3LO6fEC6Zk
