I just tried to swing my magic wand to fix the apparently unusable sound of OT. But it didn’t seem to help. It still sounds fine

Why would i sell it? Im using it as a midi sequencer but the sound of the machine is terrible!

I told earlier here that for me sound wise it’s a point of no return, because I am used to the higher segment audio tools. So for a sampler I have high demands.
Maybe it’s also how I developed my listening experience. My interest in sound started in the '80s by listening to Trevor Horn productions. These are still gems by todays standard.
@Castor what are you sampling that sounds terrible? Acoustic sources or electronic?
Do i have to state my experience in audio to make my points more valid?

No it’s not! I wanted to use it as a sampler but I can’t; i feel betrayed by Elektron. The midi function is good enough so I kept it.
I use it almost every day with field recordings and what not. Sounds fine. Not horrible by any means. That’s why I suspect the way you sample into it or your gain staging is wrong. It should not sound horrible. Really.

Well, it’s not unlistenable, but i must be very careful with efx bc they totally degrade the sound without sounding much more interesting. Sometimes it bad sonically but it’s interesting enough so I keep the change. But it mostly just sound like OT, recognizable as heard millions of times before, gray and boring.
I will probably buy MPC One to use it alongside OT.
Well yes! For that amount of money i was expecting at least decent sounding efx.
OT’s machine, filter and fx structure have a lot of influence on, and are a big part of the sound. So in that sense, yes. DT sounds cleaner, more HiFi
And apparently has a tiny bump in the higher frequency range (there’s a topic here on elektronauts about that ).
OT sometimes almost has an analog-ish vibe to it. I get some nice glued grooves because of it. But as you see in this topic it is a matter of personal preference and learning to work with it in creative ways
