In a matter of speaking, yes. But it can also the opposite because I see the complete studio as a instrument.
I remember very well a jam session with a minimal OT set-up. Basicly it was a Rode NT4 stereo mic with Sound Devices USBPre as mic preamp into the OT. It was a great jam but listening back later on I was not happy sound wise.
Then you have to look back in the '80s with Fairlight and Synclavier

These arguments are getting sillier by the day. First it was the converters, then the goalposts got shifted to talk about internal mixing, then comparisons to samplers with much higher costs at their time of release, and now itâs about random jam sessions recorded on microphones. There are so many variables in how that mic was placed, gainstaged, etc etc. As I say, itâs getting silly.

They already have. 
DT for instance. OT has been around for a decade. The focus of it is to do a whole lot of stuff. My guess is that the choice to make it like it was with lo go ish FX etc was a deliberate one. Thereâs always the limit to what you can push out of a dsp without adding too much to the cost of the machine. Its probably because of that. Of course tech has developed so here we are with DT etc.

Converters and pure playback are not the worst part of OTâs sound! Itâs the processing thatâs terrible! And even that wouldnât bother me if it had OB or more analog outs.

I have the Analog Rytm mk2. Itâs nice as a complete concept for what it is.
Maybe itâs a idea for Elektron to create a new flagship performance sampler in the price range of the Waldorf Iridium that is more beat oriented than the Iridium?

OT is being used by many many pros, live on stage, in the studio, many releases.

A more fair comparison would be Octatrack vs. a Roland R70.
Since day 1 of the Octatrack beta test I was asking for better metering, perhaps employing the trig LEDs or the LCD, I think it possibly might have changed the way people think about the OT gain staging/sound quality, but whatever.
It is known that when presented with two sound files identical in everything except that one is a couple of db lower than the other, almost everyone will when asked to pick which sounds better will choose the louder one. The OT LED input meters are showing red well within the headroom, so most users unfamiliar with it are almost certainly sampling too low, which is why when comparing to the source it invariably sounds worse. But once you get the level a bit hotter and matched with the source it is fairly indistinguishable to my ears.
The DT metering is not like this, and it gives a better indication of level, it also adds a bit of high end emphasis, probably on the output rather than the input, if you want to replicate that on the OT add a bit of eq.

And do you know how much a fairlight cmi originality costed?! Or a moog? Cs80?
I mean, original prices and inflation conversion means nothing in comparison to modern technologies!
Nothing should stop Elektron to make a good sounding sampler with good sounding efx that costs 1200-1500 euros.

Yes but when was it developed? Itâs the same machine. Itâs just still being sold. And you knew this when buying it. Pretty good price for a complex machine as OT.
Better question: what is the point you are trying to make here exactly :)?

That Elektron sold me a bad sounding sampler for a lot of money! And they are still doing it!
Plenty of people are creating wonderful great sounding music with it. It doesnât sound bad.
Also: sell it and buy something you do like the sound of. Seems like the best course of action here.
