So I just downloaded the new transfer and then…
So my mac is too old ???
FFS
I think the must haves are addressed, new not trigs is very welcome, makes track structure so much easier. Note Modulation with 4 targets is also awesome, even lfo dst available. It will squeeze a lot out of the existing engines, and is user friendly. Not sure if we can copy thes setups between sounds, but the range is very cool to explore.
How old is your Mac? My Early 2015 Mac Mini is running 12.7.6 and that is an 11 year old computer already. I think 11 is supported on Macs from 2013 and onwards.
hi anyone know if the choke function is based on the audio level or trig level (midi).
thanks
Early 2013 mine OS Catalina. I hate computers ![]()
Seems like there could be a lot of interesting possibilities crossfading between two samples that are designed to work together. It’s kind of like having two velocity layers.
Note that the Syntakt support page:
https://www.elektron.se/support-downloads/syntakt#resources
says (incorrectly) that Transfer 1.10.3 is “Compatible with: macOS 10.13 High Sierra and later”,
while the Transfer support page:
https://www.elektron.se/support-downloads/transfer#resources
says (correctly) that Transfer 1.10.3 is “compatible with: macOS 11 Big Sur and later.”
I’m online ordering a new mac mini that’ll do me another 10+ yrs I guess I needed a new one anyways ![]()
This is a very nice update to an already beloved mega groovy box.
Wow! I bought a Hydrasynth yesterday and today Elektron turns the ST into a multi-timbral monophonic wavetable synth!
I was able to update to 1.40 using a previous version of Transfer but , like some other old lags, I will need to find a Mac with a newer OS in order to install samples. I would love it if Transfer could be made to run on 10.14 “Mojave” again.
The global storage location for samples will trip up many people, I fear. I wonder whether Elektron ever considered implementing a fixed samples set, to be more like MD’s E12 machines than the ROM machines?
Anybody know how to install the update on, uh, Linux? I do have a mac mini I run headless as a server that I can use, but it would be nice to do on my main machine…
EDIT: just found out that Elektroid exists! I won’t have a chance to try it out until tomorrow but if anyone else does, report here.
Amazing update! So many unexpected QoL improvements! TY Elektron!! ![]()
haha it was fun as all hell lol
What is the sample length of the sample?
5 seconds max! If you try and drop a sample that’s longer than 5 seconds into the Transfer app, it auto-truncates. In my video I call it a “gift and a curse” and I think that just about sums it up. I prob lean more toward gift though lol, you just have to see it coming ![]()
This update looks really fun.
I want to believe that my constant replying “choke/mute groups” to feature requests was the deciding factor for them implementing it.
I mean, I know it’s not… But I can pretend I’m important!
Happy updates to all that celebrate! I was waiting for someone to complain about being underwhelmed so I could post a classic PJ Harvey song. “Is That All There Is?” You all can just imagine someone complained.
Is it weird to want to add samples from my Nord Drum 3P?
I just tried the trig audition punch-in effects in the FX block, and it still works great.
The crunchy delay, filter, and drive sound really, really good on break samples.
There’s a convenient FX envelope trick that didn’t work in 1.00 that works now: you can change the envelope type to positive AHD, set length to note, and set the trig LEn value to the desired note length. That makes filling a 1 bar (or desired length) delay buffer much, much easier.
QUESTION: If you replace samples used in your projects, will those sounds go away from your patterns and project? Is it the same way as in DT? So the only way to save your work before changing your sample pool will be saving a whole project to computer? And also, is there a way to save “Sounds”, like in DT?
I have no tried it myself but from what I understand the sample engine is more tied to the slot than what’s in the slot.
So yes, if you changed that sample out of that slot it’s going to change it across every project that uses that slot.
It’s probably best to get a versatile set of samples like acoustic drum sounds, single cycle oscillators, and bread and butter sounds (piano, synth choir, ect) and just keep the samples like that forever.
Otherwise you’re better off just using a Digtakt if you’re looking for deeper sample work.
I couldn‘t watch all of the same time dropped influencer videos yet. They have much overlap.
So is there a chance that Elektron included a copy all instruments/sounds from one pattern to another? (Simplest kit approach and useful if you work with composed tracks and make use of song mode)?
I didn’t see this in the power ups.
The dual sample thing with morph seems interesting. Would be great in the digitakt. I still need to think what opening up ST concept wise will do. Anyway, one of my fav machines and like that it gets upgrades ![]()
Elektron uploaded a Twinshot sample pack that’s a free download on their website. Bunch of drum hits, utility transients, stabs and pads, etc. that’s a pretty good all-purpose pack to start off which.
