I think I found my own answer here after looking at thr TE docs guide OP–XY. It’s CC 7, but each channel 1-16 maps to the different instrument and aux. This was the bit I was missing.
I think it is just a different workflow, like for me I build up the patterns first for like most of my track then I go in and work out how I want the arrangement to move through scenes and actually play the track. I always had trouble going back into an arrangement and changing things on the EP. Just kinda clunky for that sort of feeling out an arrangement type workflow. Like even though the EP is sequencer based it reminds me much more of the OP1 workflow of you make a choice and you move on, good or bad.
…or possibility to copy/paste scenes
I would like to see the arranger “power up” a bit though like, it just plays through your scene for the exact length of the longest pattern if you scene, it would be nice in arranger view if you could set the length of a scene, maybe being able to set the start step to something different than the first step. If they could figure out a way to like incorporate some weirdness like step components into the arrangement you could get into like generative feeling arranging.
I’ve been messing with the OP-XY’s Mixer a bit more and just made a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVLcqzkcgKo
The short version:
- There are two types of mutes.
- One type of mute affects sequenced notes (including outgoing MIDI) but not played notes, and is saved to each scene–meaning you can have 99 of them per project.
- This type of mute can be triggered 3 ways: pressing the fourth encoder on mixer page, holding down the instrument/aux and hitting the track number, or hitting shift and hitting the track number while in Arranger/Mixer mode
- The other type of mute is by turning the volume all the way down. This mutes the internal engine but, of course, it still sends MIDI from the track.
- This type of mute is saved to the pattern instead of the scene.
This would actually solve all of it.
I loaded a some multisamples onto it (about 1,6gb) and after that some of my old projects samples won’t load, some of my custom snapshots drums are just a straight line and a cursor goes left to right (on channel L+ R) on the drum slot, the same with my multi samples, some keys work fine but others get the same straight line , any ideas what I should do? Remove the folders with the samples/presets or what?
nice video, I learned something new
I’m curious if removing the new folders worked.
So basically it affects stuff already on disk not only stuff that you just loaded. Interesting.
Can you check the name of the new folder you added?
Just started using this controller from Intech Studio. The PBF4 model.
It has four pages of settings. So, 16 faders, potentiometers and buttons. But you have to press a button on the front of the controller to change pages. Or you can connect another controller and have all eight tracks readily available.
As I understand it, scenes aren’t ’saved’ states exactly, more like containers that just represent the most recent state they were left in. So currently until you go into a scene and modify something they won’t have any relation to work you’ve done in a previous scene. A pro here is that it’s quite fluid to build them… I guess. But a con is that if I mess up my bridge section… (say scene 14…) while playing around, I have to remember how to configure it again. I can’t return to its previous ‘saved’ state.
I’d prefer to be able to save them and feel safe they’re locked personally. But copying one to another would be something at least
There’s project reloading and sub snapshots of saved states as well.
just wanted to tack onto this thread after receiving a December batch of the OP-XY (got it yesterday) that I too have the faulty pitch bend. Waited a month to get this and now after reading this thread it looks like I just have to send it back. Very frustrating.
Did you install the latest OS and do the PB calibration?
Nice. Looks cool. I see that it’s the one that connects new modules like lego, nice.
I’m thinking about picking up a Faderfox UC4.
Unfortunately I believe I’m plugged into the proper ports (on octatrack for ex.). I leave the cable attached to the midi in of the Octatrack, and then disconnect the other end of the midi cable from the OP-XY, plug that end into a Digitakt, and the Octatrack suddenly receives clock and transport from the Digitakt. Thus, both the port as well as the internal settings on my target device (the Octatrack) are correctly set up to receive midi clock and transport.
Still struggling with any upload after 2-3Go but a fresh reset start did the trivk for your presets. Thanks !
After almost two weeks of attempts and yet another OP-XY factory reset, I finally managed to upload 4.45 GB of presets and samples.
During this process, I had to reboot the OP-XY a number of times and it crashed twice, but miraculously, this time I didn’t lose anything.
I won’t tempt the devil any further, and can only hope that the OP-XY doesn’t give me any nasty surprises when I use it.
Has anyone got a copy of the Manual they could share that allows you to do a search on it as I’m unable to search any words on the official Pdf Macbook or Android phone
Thanks
Dope setup! Any video demo?
