Good advice. Coming from Elektron, which is definitely more regimented and expected in its outcome with their version of p-locks and probabilities, XY is more fluid and unexpected. Although I like the rabbit hole it brings you to, I wish there’s more clarity in how I got there, and how to come out of it. Some sort of breadcrumbing would make the exploration more adventurous.
Doh, I didn’t even think about doing it from the scenes view, nice!
Yep, easy peasy!
I connected a WARBL 2 wind controller via Bluetooth MIDI, and it worked without a problem.
Just to verify: your stuff doesn’t appear when managed from the computer via MTC mode in addition to not appearing on the XY? If it appears via MTC, but not on the XY, there might be a folder naming issue.
I’m really liking the OP-XY, but I only have 1 request. PLEASE make the speed parameter of the arpeggio p-lockable.
This would effectively allow it to function like retrigs from the Elektron boxes and totally solve my issues with easily inputting occasional triplets for percussion.
I understand that this is a good request, but why not use step components in that case?
@Prints
I discussed it a bit earlier in the thread. Unfortunately, the step components don’t allow for what I’m looking for. Currently, the only workaround is to nudge steps using micro-timings
I’ve been messing around this morning with the OPXY looping tracks audio to the CBA Onward and boy it’s a lot of fun.
The only issues I have now is that I want the XY to be center of everything - I kind of wish there were more multi ports so I can have an FX loop and midi out - having to choose is kind of a bummer, but I suppose I can do midi over usb.
Is there a USB midi host people would recommend?
Hi
Just wanted to know from the new owners if they think it’s worth the price there charging for it?
Thanks
Ive been using the original OP-Lab and/or a Touché
Touché passes midi through its TRS out port so you can use it to modulate the MODs on the synth engine and also pass midi out to other devices and still have ports left for other fun things
How is the usb monitoring when connected to an iPad? Is it same as OP-1 field (audio feedback loop) or we can now process OPXY through iPad fx and monitor only the audio from iPad to OPXY via usb?
Retrokits RK-006 or the new H4MIDI WC USB MIDI host from CME that has BLE MIDI with the optional WIDI Core chip.
Keep in my mind that this is very subjective, as people perceive value very differently.
For me, it’s worth it. I’ve been looking for a portable all-in-one instrument with stereo synth & sample engines, FX send and return, built-in mic, solid sequencer, velocity sensitivity, enough storage and RAM, and a built in battery. I don’t have a lot of other gear, so for me, it checks a lot of things I would have to buy separately. When you try to keep things as compact and convenient as possible without a lot or compromises, OP-XY is a great option.
Nope. That was the first thing I tried. It was wiped clean like a factory reset. I traced back to what I had done last with the XY. A few hours before this happened I had my iPhone connected to it via USB. Maybe my iPhone was jealous cause and erased everything cause I haven’t been spending much time with her since the OP-XY arrived! The machines are taking over.
Yes absolutely. The new scene mode alone is a game changer for live use, being able to seemlessly switch between different patterns/presets on a single track is awesome. Reminds me of the Command Stations, MC505, and MC707 and how they function.
Plus we get undo and a history file now, no more accidentally lost projects because I forgot to take the OP-Z out of autosave mode.
I ran into a bug last night where the sequencer hung when switching patches
it played out one note with infinite sustain, and the entire device was locked.
(this was the screen view it was stuck on (with the step ‘6’ stuck in that position)
turned it off, and back on and all was well except the project I was working on was completely gone and wasn’t in the history either… so that was weird but fortunately I was about 10 minutes into the project so not a big loss, but it could be a big loss if I was further along.
save often?
