This interview with the opxy designer got me pretty excited!

If OP-1F can get undo…

We can literally get anything. The future is bright.

I’m sorry to be ‘that guy’, but Jonas spoke the same words a while ago.

’ looking further ahead, we have lots of fun ideas in store, there’s reason to be excited about the future of OP–XY.’

Give us that update, and let us also feel that excitement.

Maybe saving some good stuff for Superbooth?

Man I love this early concept with colored tracks. Would be super cool if you choose the colors. It looks so much better than the current grey (don’t even get me started on the FX pages. )

I hope they don’t feel too liked into the monochrome asthetic even think it was surely an active choice.

Stoked for the future but yeah. We might as well all be ready for the long haul.

I played with my OG OP-1 for the first time in a while today. It would be so sweet if some of those synths came to OP-XY, they’re so fun and interesting. I do like some of the XY ones but they’re a bit “boring”
In comparison

Yeah its sad. The concept is great, if only those synths wouldn‘t lack.

Any ideas what I’m doing wrong? Or is this info from TE wrong?

I have a decent handful of preset packs at this point since it’s the easiest way to work with OPXY IMO, but I am not able to successfully re house any within any deeper nested folders than the base preset directory itself.

folders can only be 1 level deep

ie - samples/kicks
-samples/loops

same goes for presets I assume.

Yeah what I pictured is their exact verbiage but you seen to be right.

While I don’t think it will do anything, I emailed support about the issue given the wording. Maybe I’ll get a nod and a wink that it’s in the works or something.

Oh I’m a dummy. I guess it’s still correct we can create foldings within the presets folder. But out one level deep. I guess the wording still remains true ish.

I’m looking for a groovebox to pair with my bass guitar while playing live. I want to have patterns/scenes ready and make transitions kind of flow if possible. What would make a better pairing, OP-XY or Digitakt II?

Do you mean transitions between songs?

If so the Digitakt is a better option, as the OP-XY doesn’t really have a good solution for chaining multiple songs together into a longer set. It’s really great for writing and arranging songs (IMHO better than the Elektron flow) but that limitation holds it back from certain uses.

Yes, transition between songs. I’m into the idea of a self-contained groovebox, whereas the Digitakt, you need an external synth that’s going to make it come alive. Have you had experience with both?

I’ve used the OP-XY extensively as well as many Elektron boxes (though not the Digitakt).

Syntakt or Tonverk might be worth looking at on the Elektron side if you need both drums and melodic voices.

You are not into a midi foot controller to send program changes PC for smooth transitions?

Then i get to choose my favorite sounding groovebox. I used a morningstar mc6 and rytm live and it worked great.

But i do like the song mode in opxy. I think maybe some dont?

Noob question: I don’t remember how to copy paste a sequence from one track to another. Is this even possible? I think it was not on the OPZ but wondering if it changed with OPXY…

Edit: it is very easy to do it, thanks to arranger mode. Very simple and efficient

Hey are you still using this combo? Does mm2 power ok from the op xy usb?

Yes, I still use this combo. However, I power the MM2 separately to avoid ground loops.

If you want to power the MM2 via the XY’s USB port, you’ll need to insert a ground loop isolator (e.g. FeinTech ATG00101) in the audio path. You can also try disabling the XY’s battery charging (go to COM menu, then push the white encoder). However, I’ve had better results with a ground loop isolator.
