Thanks. Now I will try to pump some more samples into the XY
Just one question about folders: Is it possible to create one (!) more folder level inside the USER folder? I know that there is only one folder level allowed. I’m just wondering where it starts.
The project is completely gone from the list of user projects. So yes, the history seems to be deleted as well. But there is an older version of the project I deleted within the list of auto-saved projects. I don’t know what triggers an auto-save on the OP-XY, though. Not all of my projects have an auto-saved file. Maybe switching projects or switching off the OP-XY without saving auto-saves a project?
I had this issue at first because I used drag/drop into the OP-XY window. It works if you copy the source files or folder and then paste them into the op_XY window.
I thought it created an auto save in the backup folder every time you saved the current project, but I could be wrong. My XY is currently in Germany on the way back to it’s motherland so I can’t test at the moment.
It creates a savefile in the history folder every time you manually save the project. There is a seperate auto-save folder which includes auto-saved versions of all the projects on the OP-XY. I just tried it with saving a project. No auto-save appears, but a new time-stamped version appears in the history of the project.
Any ideas how to nudge/shift all notes of a pattern step by step (similar to the offset notes function of the OP-Z)? I searched the whole manual and found nothing (except microtiming per step which is not what I want).
Thanks. The differences between the XY and the Z are greater than I expected. At the moment I find the workflow with the Z much easier, but hopefully that’s a matter of habit.
When I first got my OP-XY I had no problem connecting it to CME Widi devices. For the past few weeks it’s connecting and can even receive midi notes, but I see no traffic going to my Widi devices. I’ve tried with 3 widi dongles I had around the house and even bought a new one - no luck. It works fine wired, and I’ve also confirmed that the notes direction on the widi connections in the COMs menu is set to “both.”
Has anybody else seen this? It’s strange that this repros universally with all of my CME devices.
I have no problems using the XY with a WIDI Bud Pro and a H4MIDI WC (with built-in WIDI Core module).
Firstly, I would check whether the WIDI device is paired with a computer or mobile device. If so, unpair the WIDI device and clear the Bluetooth cache. If this does not help: Factory reset the WIDI device. Details how to clear the Bluetooth cache and how to perform a factory reset can be found on the CME website.
A brief summary after 2 days of using the OP-XY. Nothing that is not already known
No crash so far.
Hardware feels and looks amazing, no flaws.
This ultra-small font size for some texts is bullshit and completely unnecessary.
I miss the note-offset feature from the OP-Z.
MIDI settings can be found in different places. This makes MIDI setups unnecessarily complicated. Beside this, MIDI works fine, even with bluetooth.
My biggest pain are drum tracks:
Basically, the ability to sequence several drum sounds in one track is a great improvement compared to the OP-Z. In practice, it really bothers me that I can’t set individual FX send amounts for individual drum sounds. Also, I have not yet managed to p-lock parameters from the M1 page (including pitch and pan). I hope that this issue lies with me and not on the device side. However, the drum tracks still seems very half-baked to me.
OK, this statement was probably a little premature
My Launchkey Mini MK4 does not work when connected via TRS. A cross-check with my Keystep 37 was successful (same MIDI settings on the XY, same channel on the keyboard). As soon as I connect the LK 4 Mini via USB, everything works as expected.
That’s strange, because the MIDI TRS out of my LK4 Mini works fine with other devices.
did you check trs midi types? op-xy midi jack is type a
edit:
novation says:
Launchpad Pro MK3, Launchkey Mini MK3, and Launchkey MK4 Mini feature a 3.5mm TRS MIDI port which follows the specifications introduced in the MIDI Association standard in 2018 - this follows the Type A specification.
I assumed this was a software bug that would get fixed eventually, but I contacted TE about it and they advised me to send the XY back for replacement.
