OP-XY/Z User Thread

was thinking just for performance, cause I’m so used to my elektrons

Op-z has this function where you can do temporary encoder twists by holding shift and turning a lm encoder, this is great for performance… but it hasn’t made its way to the OP-XY and I don’t know if it was just forgotten about or if it isn’t possible to implement

Please don’t sand plastic if you do this. It creates a lot of microplastic fragments. Terrible for your health and the environment

sounds delightful

I hope they port that badboy

What I meant to say is that within those 16 patterns on a project (opz) I can have 16 different variations of the snare drum track, kick etc… all the tracks have up to 16 different variations since there are 16 patterns and then you can chain to the next project.

On the other hand the op-xy you’re just limited to 9 variations/patterns per track. Sure you have 99 scenes but you’re stuck with the 9 patterns/variations per track. It seems it will be kind of tricky doing long sets or more complex types of music that require a lot of variations that will eat up the pattern limit since you can’t chain projects on the op-xy either and songs only use the 9 patterns per track as well.

Thanks for the motivating words and support! I really appreciate it and I am happy you like the sounds

Yes! I got my UPS tracking from Thomann as well
Looks like next week’s gonna be a very unproductive week

Very nice, I love every track and it’s a great mix too :sunglasses: You’re a very talented musician.

Is this mix coming out of the OP-Z, or are you triggering effects and samples to music run through it as I don’t know anything about the OP-Z?

Absolutely massive feature that has just blown my mind - being able to send any individual track or several tracks to a guitar pedal - being able to control the input and output level to/from that pedal with drive - and having it return to the op-xy. I don’t think I have ever seen that in any sort of groovebox before. So I am able to send out track 1 and 3 to my reverb pedal and have it route back in to the op-xy so I can hear it out of my master - all while my other tracks are dry and not affected. I can control the individual send level from each track and manage the entire routing. I have always struggled with guitar pedals because I don’t want my entire song to have reverb on it and every groovebox I have owned (including digitone) has been all or nothing and I just want a couple tracks to have reverb. Finally!!!

Yeah…so…hrmmm…this

Thing

Is freaking amazing:

First 30 minutes of playing with it, and it’s all gelling wonderfully.

My Drambo workflow adapts nicely to the device…I love making something feel vaster on 16 Steps because of the power of Step Components and Playback Division speeds…

The OP-1F deck saver does touch the pitch bend. I took a sharp utility knife to it and shaved it down. Works great now… About a ten minute job.

Yeah I’m a bit worried about this limitation too for live set, currently my set barely fits in a single OP-Z project but there’s still the option to switch projects without stopping.
Are you sure there’s no option to change projects live on the XY? That would be a big showstopper for me.

Does anyone else’s knobs feel a little rougher when turning them slowly? Mine does on the dark gray knob. Not terrible at all but definitely noticeable.

has anyone ordered from TE directly? how long did it take?

I don’t think it’s as seamless like the opz when changing projects live. There’s no mention of project chaining in the current manual.

Props to Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center (and UPS I guess!). I ordered an OP-XY yesterday at noon and I had it in my hands today by 2:30pm. This is with their standard free shipping.

Yes. My two center knobs are rough somewhere on a full turn. I’m returning it for a new one.

This is awesome.

To anyone who has tried this-- can we only monitor the effected track that’s returning, or can we also record it? If we can record it, is the recording only captured as a sample with a 20 second limit, or is there an option to record straight to disk for longer than 20 seconds?

Also, is the 20 seconds a limit of the sample recording buffer? Are we able to load longer sample files into the samplers?
