OP-1 field

“hi Rowan,

thank you for contacting us!

apologies, this was a mistake on our end. 1.5.5 hasn’t been released yet which is why there was no download link.

the current version is still 1.5.0

don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions! meanwhile, have a nice day.”*

Yep I posted that on the OP-1 Forums, Elektronauts wasn’t loading for me, and still isn’t, on my home Wi-Fi. Works on cellular though.

Anyway, hope the update comes out soon

just rediscovering the presets for a lot of the synth engines. fm cermon is really cool if you vary some of the params like freq or even topology. recently made a new beat and used an LFO to change the freq param at random and really produces some cool telephone sounding artifacts.

New firmware available now from the looks of it.

Now for the real question. Does the USB audio work with Digitakt II. Will test in the evening CET.

[EDIT] It probably does not as Dikitakt has no other option but to operate at 48Khz

I dont think this is the O/S to do it but I do hope something gets fixed so the M8 and OP1 can send midi and audio back and forward simultaneously.

You should definitely try it. They recently added compatibility with 48Khz devices on one of their other products (the mixer I think). And the release notes for that had a reference to audio compatibility.

The release notes for OP-1F that was posted earlier (before they pulled it) had the same text in. So it might finally work!

Digitakt (1 and 2) usb audio now works with OP-1 field and TX-6. I’ve just tested it. I could only send from Digitakt to OP1/TX-6 though, not receive.

Midi also works (sending and receiving) in parallel.

assume that’s because DT can’t sample from USB without overbridge? would be neat though

Makes sense! I didn’t know that

You totally can sample via USB without overbridge. In fact, you cannot sample from Overbridge. It has to be via USB, using the Digitakt as an audio interface.

This sounds like an OP-1 problem.

I think it’s by design. When I’ve plugged in my H1N via USB previously I could only record to OP-1f and not the other way around. I guess it’s because you can’t select inputs and outputs for USB devices so you’d just get a feedback loop mess. The release notes for the latest update hinted at fixing that but I haven’t had a chance to update yet.

Just tried with my HX Stomp. You can select which USB input to sample from but I’m just getting a load of white noise.

Is anyone else bothered by the lack of updates of the user guide? There is no mention of the recently added tape merge drop, of the terminal effects, and of course nothing about the 1.5.6 new features.
:man_shrugging:

yeah its annoying but it will happen over time. the field notes take more time since the typesetter process is more complex than their other guides. i think each guide has a version and for the field i notice it lags by like 6mo or more

Not sure if updated but this manual is pretty good:

[EDIT] - It is for 1.5:

  • Latest 1.5.0 OP-1 Field OS. Book Release Jan 2024 (Minor Edits)

The last one they sent me was issue 1.4.5 (16 Jul 2023), I guess I ran out of free updates

wait, you CAN sample into DT from OP1f via USB. just select input USB L R on the DT

That’s what I’m talking about! Amazing one cable. Can you test if Input also works to use OP-1 as an external instrument?

ahh that’d exceed the threshold of awesomness. unfortunately not, that’s an option for stereo inputs only

would be a great feature request
