OP-1 field

I really want some basic support for multi samples. I’d like to sample a piano on a few keys across the octaves for example rather than one.

This is just ideas and I´m sure I´m forgetting something, but anyway:

8 tracks suggestion

  • in Recorderview. For me, it would be natural to have 1-8 to change tracks and secondary function (written very naturally under the numbers as secondary functions use to do) with shift + 1-8. You already change tracks the same way in Synth/drumview and a shift function for in/out/loop/effects/memory is not so bad imo
  • you can solo by just press and hold 1-8. You can mute a track with hold Mixerbutton (mixerscreen will show) + 1-8. This is momentary and you will go back to Recorder when you release Mixerbutton
  • How to fit 8 tracks on the screen? Perhaps a smaller animation of the taperecorder? It takes up alot of space. With T1-T4 unused in Recorderview, they could perhaps work as a trackviewer. Change between to see track 1-4 and 5-8 with T1 and T2. T3 could be see all 8 tracks and T4 could be something else perhaps see all tracks as one for easier editing

Undo suggestion

  • in Recorderview. I don´t find that encoderclicks do anything in the Recorder. Perhaps use them for undo/redo? Or Recorderbutton (not Recordbutton) + arrows (left undo, right redo)

More effects suggestion

  • in Synth/drumview. Shift + T3 you get 2 columns of effects to chose from (I and II). You chose effect I with blue encoder and effect II with brown encoder. Perhaps a option “none”. With gray encoder you can set FX I amount and with orange encoder FX II amount. Press T3 to go out from this view or press blue or brown encoder. I don´t see that the encoderclicks do anything in FX view so you could use blue and brown encoders to click the FX I and II on/off. With T3 in FX view you turn all effects on/off

Can anyone in the UK explain how the tax thing works please? As in why it’s deducted at checkout and will it be charged later somehow by customs?

Finally came in the mail today. The sound quality is really great, across all synths and sample engine. I don’t think the videos out there quite do it justice. The low end is punchy af compared to the OG in my opinion. The sound is way thicker across the frequency spectrum compared to the OG.

The keybed is different to the feel. OG feels better, has juicier keys. The new keys feel a bit thin but it’s nothing you think about once you start messing around. Screen is good, but contrast and viewing angle is a bit better on the OG, however the new UI has thinner lines and more muted colors which contribute to that effect. But working with it, the new screen is much more usable, sitting flush against the glass.

So far I really think it is the pro version of the OP-1. You won’t have to do a lot of editing in a DAW to compensate for its shortcomings, thinking about clicks, pops, mono and lacking audio quality. Looking forward to sampling my other instruments to build sample packs and patches.

Personally I think the Field offers more value for the money than the OG, even at a 2:1 ratio.

Congrats! They are both beautiful machines in their own way. I will keep my OG until I can’t justify to keep it.

Please tell us what latency is like on the FM Transmitter.

Also, can you broadcast what is playing on “Album”, at the same time FM broadcasting is enabled?

Thanks!

Latency in fm is not noticeable in my experience using broadcasters.

I mean, could I theoretically use my car stere as a wireless monitor when playing, w/ low enough latency?

I would add a “sequencers user library”.

Not much space necessary and it could be implemented with an interface like the new “tape menu”.

Anybody with the OP1 Field knows if there’s still a limitation with the amount of patches that can be transferred to the unit?

If I’m not wrong… in the OG OP1…
Max Synth Sampler patches = 42
Max Synth Synthesis patches = 100
Max Drum Patches = 42

Is it the same in the Field?

I’m out for the night, but I’ll try using the OG as a fm receiver when I get back :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I think this would work nicely as a seq preset manager. With the ability to rename the presets.

Thanks!

The TE website says 500 user patches and over 160 minutes of sample storage.

Great to know!!

Thank you

I imagine something like that. Incredibly useful for live sets.

Exciting!

My OG OP-1 FM radio only gives me static right now, so I have no way to test the latency. I can play the album while broadcasting FM but I don’t have a way to confirm it’s actually working correctly without a working FM receiver. But based on the animation it seems as if you can broadcast an album over FM. Sidenote, you can’t play a synth or the tape at the same time.

YES. This is the one thing I want and this is exactly how I want it to be implemented.
