Ask on the Micromonsta 2 thread…
Sorry to ‘harp’ on about this MM2. I can’t find the reason for the OT not playing back in the same key, the timing is dubious too. I’ve got the MM2 in bi-timbral mode. The second channel is working with an issue. I don’t have any LFO’s or Transpositions on either of the tracks G
@Graham sorry for your issues, I don’t exactly see what they are.
I can make some bitrimbal test if you wish. Could you describe how to reproduce your issues ?
My connections are
DAW CLK SYNC > USB AR > AR MIDI OUT / KS37 > KENTON MERGE
MERGE > OT MIDI IN
OT MIDI OUT > CME THRU 5 IN
CME THRU > MM2 / OTHER SYNTHS
The input sounds fine on both channels.
On playback however Chn 1 the pitch and placement of notes
is harshly jumbled and un recognisable.
Chn 2 is mostly correct though some latency is apparent .
Thanks G
I’d try OT out > MM2 in to check if your midi config isn’t the culprit…
Made no difference. I tried a different pattern, this time everything I played in was dropped by a whole tone. I loaded another different project after this and it worked normally, playing back accurately and in tune.
Again, I started a simple MIDI only sequence. It was initially good then the pitch started to wander out of tune after a few runs. I don’t think it’s the THRU box as the other synths are working as expected.
I’ve had a similar issue before and just deleted what had become a corrupt project. I’ve experienced a few system crashes too. Is this normal ? G
OT freeze ? Midi loop, feedback, or eventually USB still connected ? (problematic with Mac sometimes)
The symptoms do suggest a loop or feedback somewhere. I’ll try later with the USB disconnected. Cheers G
Highly recommended especially with a mac.
I’d try this first to identify better the issue.
USB can manifest in all kinds of ways, and I have an ageing Mac.
Not the ideal combination ?
The OT USB is purely for data transfer only. Also the MM2 has an independent
PSU and no USB connection…
However… I switched off the MIDI CLK and TC OUT from the DAW sync
to the OT, and all is working.
Human error can be embarrassing.
The other thing I keep doing is deleting and entire pattern rather than just the MIDI track.
No hope but I don’t let it stop me, thanks for helping me out ![]()
Glad you find a solution !
Yes but it is a common bug.
No need to keep USB plugged if it happens…
Thought I’s just add, incase someone else has a similar issue…
The transposed playback on the MM2 was being caused by the OT MIDI ARP, despite the mode being OFF.
It certainly had me on the run.
Ah yes it is independent from arp, good thing.
