I find myself posting lots of links to these, so I thought I’d create a single topic for standout Tiny Desk concerts.
Here’s an interesting one for a Fri evening – Tom Tom Club in an acoustic set (early 2010s):
People grooving together and having fun. What more could you ask for?!
Not-so tiny desk ( full band ) Snarky Puppy.
Especially note the three keyboardist, one using a talk box, another using a whammy bar, and the third switching off and sometimes playing both keyboard and trumpet. I also love how they so fluidly move around the whole band with solos. Tight performance.
.
Tiny Desk is a fun series. Wu-Tang was a good one.
I had never heard of Mac Miller before Tinydesk. Love those microtonal vocals.
the idles one retained a spirit even at such reduced levels, sans fx etc
loved how intimate this PJ Harvey one was and that voice …
The War on Drugs is one of the best live bands I’ve seen. Love their Tiny Desk (at Home) performance here.
Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals’ is great too:
I must confess I only listened to a few of these and my favorite is…Rick Ross…
Thanks all. I’m a frequent Tiny Desk listener and have already found some great new music from just the handful of posts here. Keep 'em coming!
I watch this every time I am in the gym running the pockets and grooves he finds with the music are just different, and when ‘Mind playing tricks’ starts I no it’s time to push.
Sampha is just brilliant and that’s all there is to say
I enjoyed this recent one from Chappell Roan, I don’t really listen to pop stuff anymore but she stands out, got a good voice and writes some great songs
Tiny desks are great, this is my favorite
I gained a lot of respect for Fred Again after this appearance.
Tiny Desk obsessive here for many years. My 40th birthday party was Tiny Desk themed where we projected them onto a wall.
Some of my favourite ones:
This early Mitski one is pretty legendary and possibly the greatest if you like raw:
The Tyler the Creator one is one I play often as it’s so much fun and sounds so great:
This J Noa video is my 5 year old daughter’s favourite so we watch it a lot. She’s incredible.
This one totally made Margaret Glaspy’s career (deservedly as she’s one of the best live performers):
And the Taylor Swift one is actually pretty great and a good way to win people over to her being as famous as she is. Especially Death by a Thousand Cuts and All Too Well.
This band is so tight ! I can’t listen to the original songs anymore, I prefer these. The drummer is from the Ezra Collective, btw.
