Novation Launchpad Pro Mk3

On the one hand, it depends a bit on whether Ableton allows certain features in terms of control of Live. Notice that the most recent competition (Akai APC64) barely improved on the specs of the Launchpad and that came nearly 4 years later than the LPP.

I already made an image in this thread about what I can imagine on the hardware side - 8 encoder would be very useful. From the Launchkey news, I’d like to see direct Ableton sequencing, but again will Ableton allow this? Since keyboards don’t like-for-like replace Push, they may have let that one go. But with the LPP being closer to Push, whether they’d allow for this is questionable. MPE I’d have thought would be a dealbreaker on the Ableton side, plus would raise the cost of the unit beyond Novation’s usual budget friendly market.

I’d say on the overall LPP setup, more sequncer lanes (maybe 8?) would be good. I’d also like the chord mode to be expanded, maybe to include something like chord sets that you get on Maschine (more than the handful incuded on the Mk3 Pro at present - this was done quite nicely on the APC64 from the demos.) I’d also like to see modes for selecting different chord voicings too. Maybe some form of note repeat would be cool?

Outside of that, I’m getting the sense of an iterative upgrade being the most likely route.

Hi,
I’m trying to send from OT to Novation Peak some notes and prog change. OT Midi out to LPP3 midi in and then LPP3 midi out to Peak midi in. When in sequencer view notes plays fine, but the program change it is not transmited. If I go from OT directly to Peak the programChange is executed. So, is LPP3 not passing incoming ProgramChange messages? some one tried? Thanks

Wondering if anyone can help me troubleshoot a problem - my launchpad won’t allow me to control a Drum Rack in Ableton Live. MIDI setup looks good, and Note mode works fine. But when I switch tracks in Live, the Launchpad stays in note mode. Firmware is current…

Hi,
Just started messing with this despite buying a while back.

Anyone know if it’s possible to have user chords in the custom mode?
Doesn’t appear so but I might be missing something obvious.

Many thanks xx

99% sure that’s a no but an excellent feature request! It definitely has that capability in there somewhere! I currently hop between custom modes and the chord page. It feels powerful but there’s definitely more potential. Custom user sequencing biz would be great fun too.

Thanks for the reply.

That’s a shame but I guess it’s another reason to get a Blokas Midihub.

I want to be able to stack pads so I can either make chords or mute groups/scenes, depending on what I am controlling.

do you mean chord mode? Then yes, you can save your own chords on the two columns to the right

No, I’d like to have something like those two columns but be able to use it in custom mode so I can have other stuff off my choosing with it.

Don’t think you can do this, prob because chord mode is a feature of the pro. if custom modes could do it then it would work on the X. you could grab a second launchpad X alongside your pro? sub £100 used, good investment imo

Thanks for the reply.

That makes sense, being pro only.
I have no more space for an X hence wanting to cram s as much into the pro as possible!

Sorry to revive this, but the implementation of the LPP MKIII on the M8 makes me badly eye that guy.

One question I couldn’t find a precise answer for: does the LPP support MIDI CC sequencing (or looping) on board?

There is no MIDI CC sequencing. Closest you can get is sequencing velocity values.

Many thanks!

Oh that’s a real pita. It would have been almost perfect with this.

(re: M8 implementation, I guess I could use the new velocity mapped tables to leverage velocity control? But that’s out of topic here)

Yes, it’s something I want from the LPP Mk3 as well. I was hoping for an update, but nothing for years now.

Yep…another abandoware around BUT I’m curious to know if there’s a Custom Script list somewhere as I could not find much apart from some templates…

Would I be able to have an isomorphic keyboard with something like this, a la the Linnstrument/Oxi One/Hapax etc.?

Theoretically I could achieve it by placing MIDI Notes in all 64 pads, but I presume that it’ll be quite tedious to do.

I’m not sure I understand your question, since it has a keyboard mode with multiple layouts and scales out of the box.

In components you can drag and drop up to four octaves of keyboard to any page…

Yeah, although this is only using a more traditional keyboard layout. I was thinking of something like with the Oxi One or the Linnstrument.

I could do the same with individually mapping MIDI notes, would be more painstaking though.

As in here.
