Would be great to be able to test this , let me know if you’re opening it up
Yes, would love to test this also. Currently I have a mini PC hooked up to G2 that I remote into with my Mac Studio which is OK but not ideal.
Short personal update: a few hours after my last update i had an accident with my bicycle which resulted in a broken hip. Operation went well and after a few days in hospital i’m back home and heading to weeks/months of rehabilitation. So work and also the development of the editor will slow down i’m affraid.
In the meantime i received a few more donations, thanks for that! It secures a longer period of a Claude Code subscription which is a tremendous help during development.
Wow, take good care, I wish you a good recovery. ![]()
Ouch! Hope you get well soon!
Condolences on the accident, but glad the operation went well. Heal fast!
Small update. My rehalibation goes smooth so far. But it will take a while before i can walk without crutches. Now that i’m more stuck at home and my normal energy is almost back, i picked up working on the editor. And it goes very well. Almost done with first goal (and i even moved some things from my second goal to the first ;-). A few days from publishing.
My first thought was a small selected group of testers. But i’m now more leaning towards just publishing and whoever is open for testing, go for it.
Nice to hear you’re getting better! Really looking forward to testing the editor!
I just released the 0.5.0 version of my Nord Modular G2 editor:
Open for testing, so please do!
If you find any bugs or whatever, don’t discuss it here, but at the GitHub repo itself, see the testing guidelines: Testing Guidelines | NordModularG2-Editor
Enjoy!
Here on Mac OS 15.5 M1 Max I get a “corrupted file”.
Did you try this?
macOS
- Open the
.dmgand drag G2 Editor to your Applications folder. - On first launch macOS may block the app because it is not notarized:
- If you see “unidentified developer”: Right-click (or Control-click) the app icon, choose Open, then confirm.
- If you see “damaged and can’t be opened”: open Terminal and run:
xattr -cr /Applications/G2\ Editor.app
Then launch the app normally.
Background: This is needed for executing macOS apps that are not notarized. Notarizing can only be done with a subscription from a (payed) Apple Developer Program.
Awesome. I had the chance to quickly test it.
The interface is neat and the feel is great. Same module look as in the original software, and the browser is a nice addition.
I had the synth properly connected on launch, with the patch displayed in the software.
However, I was not able to change params as it got disconnected.
In brief, I can display patches, but that’s it.
Thanks for the first test and the compliments about the look and feel.
The disconnect we can try to investigate.
A few things can help me to point at what the problem could be:
- In the menu go to View->Toggle DevTools
- This will open a log screen at right
- If you change params on the G2 it will show some messages there
- Could you send a screenshot of those messages there just before the disconnect happens? There could be some error messages that would help me.
Other thing that could help me is sending me the patch that was shown last before the disconnect.
If possible for you, will you add these info to the issue tracker: Issues · JanBurp/NordModularG2-Editor · GitHub
Otherwise PM me the info.
Just released a new version with some small fixes, but more important: more logging wich is usefull for investigating (lost) connection.
And some help how to show and share this log: Testing Guidelines | NordModularG2-Editor
Looks pretty good!
Here connection is not very stable.
Having problems browsing internal patches and performances. Error -10
Thanks!
And thanks for testing! Can you try again and copy/past the whole log to me (including this Error -10), so i can investigate what happens before the connection get lost. Also it could be helpfull to send me the patch or performance you last loaded before the connection got lost. PM me with this if you will.
Small update: I’m working on a solution for Windows users (seems it does need an USB driver) and improved connection with use of the test results from several users (very helpfull!)
Just releases v0.5.6:
- Longer connection timeouts
- Even more logging (for investigating connection)
- USB claim check, and message what user can do to ‘fix’ it
- Changes to documentation (easier download links, USB driver for Windows, etc)
NOTE: some testers allready reported solved connection problemns ![]()
I just released version 0.6.1 of my G2 editor. A lot of fixes, improvements and new features:
- New website with a lot more information: Home | Nord Modular G2 Editor
- A lot of bugfixes for connecting, patching, rendering modules, showing module LED’s etc.
- New features such as: copy variations, assigning midi CC’s, storing patches/performances on synth, and a lot more.
- New features for the editor: undo/redo, dark/light theme, cable rendering options, help for all key commands (close to the original), and refined editing options for editing modules and cables.
For bug reports: Bug Reports | Nord Modular G2 Editor
Next features will include: parameter pages, morph assignments, walk modules from synth and notepad.
Just noticed this. I’m sure a bunch of you have seen the vid on Matrixsynth of this new NM G1 pug in, but I was looking at the editor and it looks like it has a patch mutator. Very, very cool for G1 owners and for people like me that will def use his G1 plugin when he’s ironed out all the bugs.
