Norand Mono (Analog Bass Synth with Sequencer)

hm yeah thats what i was expecting, although for me it can be fun to use gear in such a way as often it at least results in fun experiments, even if the results arent as id expect them to be

thanks for the examples :+1:

I had the opposite use case: I used it mostly as a drum machine.

It sounds like you want it to sound, it’s up to you to craft your percussions. With the wealth of sound design possibilities, the only limit is the time you are ready to dedicate.

Any way to know firmware version ? (MK2)
I should arrive in 2 minutes !

Ok great one pad seems faulty, triggered by its neighbor one. Shit.
30s with it…

Solved. I had to slap it so that it understood who’s the boss ! (Just played hard, slided pads, too new !) Feels solid, at least pads, I wouldn’t stand on knobs like on a Mackie…

Recorded that mess with iPhone mic.
OT midi track 1 sending Mode Notes Channel, midi track 2 sending Duophonic part for hard sync. First goals achieved but :

I couldn’t sync Mono to OT (Tried 3 possibilities with FUNC + CLOCK page A B C D. May have to update.
I could set Mono master clock, but it wasn’t my original choice.

Any idea ? Seemed like Mono was receiving clock without starting. Sequential Play Mode.

I can offer absolutely no help regarding your sync issues, but I just wanted to point out that the Mono’s internal sequencer is, in my opinion, one its strong aspects. Not using it would be missing out on a good deal of fun.

Sure ! What I do, but I’d want to add a paraphonic voice + mode notes channel, direct jump, eventually Go To Step CC15…and record stuff in OT : better to have OT master I think.

Also I can’t load projects…or they are probably empty. Manuals talks about 4 red leds I don’t see.
Are there factory presets ?
Updating…

I had forgotten about that one. It’s F-ing great for live performance (using a knob on an external controller to CC#15).

This reminds me that I had planned at one point to pair my favorite firmware-crippled machines and Frankenstein the Mono’s sequencer to control the RazzMatazz. Never tried, though. Life is too short.

Ok now I get the problem : pdf manual isn’t up to date.

Online one is. So I could sync from OT, all good for now…

Some demo presets downloadable ?

Edit : found. Imminent Immersion !

1 Track for Mod Channel (Drums), random arp
2 Tracks for duophonic notes, random arp

Could do what I wanted, I will sleep better.
I’ve waited it the whole day and wasn’t sure to get it @5PM…:content:

What is morph pot ???
Seems to be cutoff pot but :

The ā€œoldā€ morphing feature via [FUNC] + [CUTOFF] is now replaced with [FUNC] + [MORPH].

Then hold [FUNC] and turn the [MORPH] pot clockwise to morph between the main and the morphing pattern.

I would love to try that but I’m afraid to update to 2.0.

Same…

Do I understand it correctly that 2.0 is somewhat unstable on mk1, but fairly stable on mk2?

My understanding was the opposite! Sucks when there’s no communication from Norand anymore.

Different firmwares, last MK2’s is 1.22.
So I guess bugs are independent.

Could you elaborate ? No 2.0 for MK2

The 2.0 for mk1 is less buggy than the FW equivalent for Mk2 - 2.0 included some of the features in the mk2.

Using midi or CV?

Shoot, I sold my MK1 so long ago, I have no memory of where this question comes from, sorry! Awesome synth though
