Yes I’ve tried it all with speeds at 1ms, 6ms, 7ms and 8ms…
I’m using the usb midi sir !
Have you tried usb midi in and out, just to confirm the connection is working?
Good call ! Just tried it out to make sure, it does receive midi signal from my MPC + MPC instantly recognizes the Mono Midi via USB
Hi everyone,
Last month I picked up a second-hand Mono MK2 at a very low price.
The sound quality is amazingly good, but unfortunately I’m experiencing some serious instability issues:
• When saving or loading, the sound engine stops working.
• The microSD card that came with it contained corrupted data.
• I tried reformatting the card, updating to the latest firmware, and even replacing the microSD, but none of this has fundamentally improved the situation.
I’m also concerned because I noticed some unusually low prices on the company’s official website. On top of that, when I tried to create an account on the official forum, I never received the verification email (yes, I checked the spam folder).
It seems that older firmware versions are no longer available. Does anyone know if there is a firmware version that is more stable than the latest release?
If you are using this synth without problems, could you please share which firmware version works best for you?
It’s a really cool synth with a fantastic sound, and I would love to use it reliably. But at the moment, all I can do is load presets and tweak them carefully to avoid crashes.
Thanks in advance for any advice or experiences you can share!
The official forum is useless. They do not pay attention to it. There are very few posts. You will get more useful responses here. But not from me in this particular case, as I only have a mk1 (and took it back down to 1.99 after all the bugginess with 2.x releases, after mk2 came out). Best of luck!
I want to use the sequencer on my mono to sequence my quadrantid swarm. Midii is straight forward but I’d like to give the cv options a try. I’m still a novice with cv/gate. Could someone walk me through it?
Is Norand Mono MKII still buggy ?
I ordered it yesterday…
Great! Looking forward to hearing what magic you come up with it!
(Never tried one myself, but I would love to, screenless ftw)
All good here so far
I was already thinking about selling my Typhon because I need money but I saw this Norand Mono (again).
Couldn’t resist.
Need to sell more things now !
(Including Typhon)
I hope so ! 40% off these days. So I pulled the trigger with 4x payment.
Cool to see a power user go for this massively underrated synth
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with
Is it possible to play mod notes with external midi ?
I guess so.
I haven’t used mine for a long time, but I think there is even a dedicated MIDI channel for mode notes in the latest firmwares… which I have never used. But it was one of my requests when I was actively following FW development, and I’m almost sure they implemented it.
Mod notes are great. I used to use my Mono primarily as a linear drum machine.
Seems good news !
MIDI : General MIDI settings
On the [SEQ] keys : 1->16 Set MIDI channel from 1 to 16
On the [PAGE] keys : A Disable ModNoteMidiChannel B Enable ModNoteMidiChannel
What goes to midi out on MKII ?
Sequencer notes, knobs CCs, pads notes, pads XYZ…?
No MPE send ?
MKII already duophonic ! ![]()
Nick at 32m25 add on…(last minute of 33m30,
)
I can’t wait to try tomorrow !
(France to France)
Duophonic + mod notes channel = dreamy analog mono ! Finger crossed…
What you mention plus the crazy sequencer are already great.
But where it really shines, IMHO, is sound design. Being able to use audio rate LFO’s coupled with envelopes for each and every parameter opens up a realm of possibilities.
sounds interesting, have any audio examples of that? been looking at this thread for quite some time now and it seems curious
Wow, I have posted a couple of things on this thread, but this was a couple of years ago. And I’m not sure they really do justice to the sound design possibilities.
I haven’t kept it, but at one point, I had managed (randomly) to come up with a pretty realisitic dog’s barking ![]()
Or a quite convincing flute. The audio rate LFO is perfect for the kind of blowing noises you also find in physical modeling.
(EDIT: there I found one example of my making
