interesting, the knobs feel very solid imo. as solid as nearly any of my synths, and surely better than some of the other synths’ knobs (looking at you, Argon8x…)
Congratulations on your new purchase, and I hope the firmware behaves for you. When the stars are aligned, it’s really quite a marvellous device!
Was a new firmware release earlier this month.
Bug fixes and portamento.
Havent had a crash since i formated the sd card and updated to latest firmware
What’s the release number? I’m happily using 1.99 but keeping an eye out for an actual stable 2.x. Web site downloads 2.2.0r which seems like the one that’s been available for months.
Its for mk2 v1.2.2r
Ah. That makes sense. I doubt MKI will get any love. All good as 1.99 is bomber solid.
i love my mk 1 defo future classic synth
don’t tell me that ![]()
Has anybody noticed that the MK2 firmware was updated in may of 2025 ? check if you run this version by pressing glide+X the glide light should change to blue (a new feature) I don’t want to jinks this. But my MK2 runs much smoother after this update thank you Norand!
What a fun instrument!
The mono has my favourite sequencer on a synth. The random features are just great for improvising live with. Are there any other synths that have a sequencer like the mono?
The DB-01 sequencer is also very good ![]()
I’m going nuts, none of all of these are working on my MK1 when trying to update to V2.2.0…
- Whatever I do when I PATTERN+RUN+POWER : 1-16 steps + ABCD are blinking, then stay on when I launch Sysex Librarian. No blinking lights showing progress
- Nothing happens when I TEMPO+FUNC+POWER, it just casually turns on.
I tried everything I found online, step by step, nothing works. Even doing all with a purge in between.
This synth seems like a keeper hardware wise, but I just can’t make the firmware work. Impossible to create an account on community.norand.io since the validation e-mail is never sent, can someone help me avoid selling this incredible synth ??
I’m so sorry but I don’t have mine anymore, regret selling it as it’s a monster but needed the cash at the time. Have you checked your junk/spam for the email? There’s a contact form here as well:
You might find any 2.x.x firmware to be more headaches than it’s worth. 1.99 is super stable.
Thanks mate, I’ve contacted them
Even trying to achieve this doesn’t work… I normally never have issues whatsoever with other gear and I’m not an old head having a hard time with this kind of stuff.
So when following the steps to install the 1.99, instead of :
- Send the 1.99.syx file to the Mono. The sequencer lights will turn off and then turn on one at a time. When the transfer is complete, it takes a few seconds until the lights turn off.
It does the same : all my sequencer light juste stay on when I send the 1.99 to the Mono… It doesn’t reboot. It just stays on. Anyone have had this issue ? ![]()
Are you setting the sysex transfer speed correctly? The default is too fast. There’s details early on this thread about setting the delay between messages longer than 1.
If you haven’t done that, start there and try again.
Are you using usb midi or din?
