New tonverk user, quick advice needed on midi syncing to DT2 / DN2

Just had a tonverk land and I can see that there could be some midi sync issues clocking to other gear? ,looking for a good quick solution before any headache

I will be syncing the TV to my digitakt 2 / digitone 2

I also want to run some external hardware synths through the input of the TV for the fx

Any advice would be much appreciated

Hi, I have a DN2 and a TV.
DN2 send transport, master clock and pattern change to TV.
DN2 audio is routed on TV’s AB input. Kick panned left and the rest panned right.
Kicks from DN2 and TV are routed to TV’s output CD. The rest is routed on mixAB.
No sync issue, program change are ok. I don’t have any problems.
Very happy with that. I wished DN2 would have more output…

Good results with DN2 as master clock

I did stuggle with the same question. So here’s my experience so far (I received my TV 2 days ago), first my setup:

MIDI setup:
MPC as Midi masterclock and play/stop sequence-> TV → DT2 → DN2 → Mess → Microcosm

Audio setup DN2 → DT2 → TV → MPC → Mess → Microcosm → monitors

I’m using the MPC in more ways than one really:

  • it gives masterclock
  • as a audiomasterchain with fx, limiting and so on, and master volumecontrol
  • as a soundsource (great sound coming from the synth engine

This setup works great in my situation. I hear no noticable sync issues. Reason being; there’s just much going on in my music, I love fx, delays, granular sounds, and all kinds of gritty sounds/long sweet attacks, that everything melts together anyhow. My music in live performance mode moves a lot anyhow.

I did a quick audio test as well with only a simple clicktrack from MPC. TV, DT2 and DN2; result: yes there’s a slight delay noticable but I figure: when will I ever run 4 clicktracks at a time in solo… It’s too small for me personally to be bothered really.

Then again: my midi setup is a daisychain now. So my first solution would be that I’d look into Midi splitter to minimize latency of the clock overall (technically the midi-chain is a too long this way), but for now, this works just great as well.

Having said that, my setup works for me, but your experience might be different though…

I use Tonverk as master for my set up (DT-DN and hydrasynth). Audio into TV from hydrasynth and then out to Digitone and into Digitakt which gives me audio out.

I don’t know if it’s the best way to set it up but it works good enough for me.

of topic: you sir should try a midi splitter box with 1in and multiple outs instead of daisy chaining 5 devices

So true, I know

I recently got my Tonverk and I’m deeply impressed by it so far. I’m using it as my “master” (Midi out, clock send, transp send, prog change send) into Analog Rytm MK2 (Midi in, clock receive, transp receive, prog change receive). Works like a charm! I also have a Keystep 37 connected to Tonverk Midi in (Auto channel 1) → Sound automatically adjusted to the active track. Must say it’s an awesome setup and I haven’t run into any weird stuff yet
