When it comes to Elektron, people are always so thankful for the firmware updates and that their machines are supported for years. people really feel as if it were a kind of community thing. I like those boxes very much and I apreciate those updates, but even thou they might be cool dudes, it´s a capitalistic company and they want to sell product. Those boxes are among very few the highest priced boxes you can buy to make music. Those long term support is part of the reputation they build to make them as expensive as they are. People here sometimes frame it so that you have to be thankful for everything that is given to you. Please don´t let´s not get in that mindset. What Mutable Instruments does is Anti-Capitalistic and community driven and you could be thankful for those actions, making all those source codes free after she made their moneys worth.
With Syntakt, Elektron even has written down, that there is more to come. They always hint and play with expectations of more to come in their marketing.
But then as you already said, it would be nice to look at the machines and wat they need and not just copy all the stuff. Of course everybody would love to have those missing rytm machines. But as you said 3 Tracks to use them. So Digital Stuff would make great sense here.
it’s more or less the same on AR , the “big” SY machines row is only the bottom row which has only 3 voices because the fourth is shared with the third.
omfg
can’t you set pattern change to 1 step and it jumps on the next step ? Or why people need direct jump ? I just can’t understand why ?
In that case when you jump patterns it starts the new pattern at the start. Direct jump keeps the sequencer position at the same point. So if you change patterns of bar 3 of a 4 bar pattern, the new pattern picks up at the same position, instead of starting from the start.
Very good if you have one pattern which is like a drum fill, and you want to be able to switch back and forth without messing up the sequencer position.
Okay that sounds kind of cool. As I word 1 pattern per Track I never had the need for it. I mostly work with the fill button and LFOs to bring some variation. Thanks for the insight
We can be grateful for what we’re given, and be interested in new possibilities without stooping to demands and weird entitled disappointment with what’s given. I’m just stoked to get new machines. Yes it sometimes feels like I want to do more with the analog machines than we get tracks for, but I’d much rather get to make decisions about what to use, than have no decision to make. I’d also happily take more digital machines, but I’m also thrilled Elektron supports their instruments as well as they do - I can’t think of any company in any sphere that consistently gives as much new stuff in free updates.
I hope that doesn’t read as accusatory - I don’t see you making silly demands or expressing disappointment in an update of unconfirmed scope - just addressing a sentiment I encountered a lot while reading through the last 2 days’ posts in the thread.
The best Elektron for Direct Jump is Analog Four. You can map patterns to midi notes, with Direct Jump or Direct Start…(Multi Map).
I agree, it’s their current flagship groovebox IMO and their 2nd newest product behind the DT2. Also elektron is known to go years and the release big updates for things. How could they possibly know that 5 years later they won’t decide to push a couple more updates to it, to backport a couple tonverk machines? If anything I bet it likely means in terms of shorter term roadmaps, it may be the “last one” while focus shifts internally to something else. I mean for crying out loud the Rytm came out 10 years ago and got a substantial update last year…
Not to be that guy. but Syntakt > Analog Heat + Effects > Digitakt 2.
But whole heartedly agree!
not my fault the elektron wikipedia article is badly maintained
It’s also their most recent original product that’s not an update of an old machine.
Mutable Instruments is out of business since December 2022
I know…
on polyend tracker all the patterns are laid out at once, you can bang away on all patterns at random and it loads the selected pattern instantly without resetting the playhead. you can make a proper racket very easily workout needing to worry about launch quantization or being accurate
dude, the talk around 1:05 in this video about additional modulation for the dt2 is maybe the most exciting aspect of these update speculations
if we had something like a multi-stage looping envelope like a waldorf, or an audio rate function generator, or even exp & log curves for the current envelopes (along with the ability to loop them), i think it would add a surprising amount of flexibility to a p-lockable groovebox like the dt2 or the st
i really hope that ST gets the new “modulators” that they’re potentially hinting at here
exponential/logarithmic curves would be an excellent update to any elektron box with envelopes
What do y’all think the probability is that we get any additional feature(s) in this update that haven’t been teased or otherwise leaked/mentioned?
It would be great if modifiers could be applied to existing trigs, because I would probably use it a lot, whereas right now I didn’t use the modifiers at all. Not expecting that, but it would be cool.
38%.
