I just woke up and was reading this thread. I was going to reply to some moaning but I held on. Then I saw your post. I couldn’t said it better.

Give them Machines, they want features.
Give them features, they want Machines.

They want everything from the other devices.

Two sentences come to mind :

« I can’t get no satisfaction! »
« I want it all and I want it now! »

Would any of you nice people consider pledging your syntakt update to a poor needy digitone in your area?

I would definitely like a SYN Freddie Mercury though. Jagger I could live without.

This game is funnier but not everyone knows how to play it.

I’m not too fussed about new sound-generating machines, but I have thought for a while Elektron could up their game a bit in terms of the “world class sequencer” on these machines.

I mean, could we at least have reverse ? and ping-pong modes ? Random ? I mean, almost all sequencers have these. If these could be p-lockable behaviours then even better.
If I was getting really picky then some LFO->sequencer functionality would be amazing too - tempo control via LFO like on my Squid ? I dunno, I love my Syntakt & Digitakt as they are, but I do think Elektron could go a bit deeper with the sequencer options. Unless this is processor power that they just don’t have, but I kinda find that implausible really.

I predict the update is going to come out with:
-BD Acoustic
-HH Lab
-SD Acoustic
-SY CHIP

-Euclidean mode
-Randomize option on naming screen
-S&H Slew

-Possible trig modifier bug fix concerning unquantized retrigs

I’m retracting my previous predictions about page looping or anything else.

And I think it’ll come out Wednesday. Unfortunately

@Sip A great update then but I was hoping for something new and not just porting stuff over from the analog rytm.

Same, really wanted more digital machines

If Elektron wanted to make it 128 steps, 4 lights is not what’s holding them back.

Personally I would be delighted with that list, absolutely chuffed! Fingers crossed!

Bought Syntakt for what it was, and loving it. Any updates are bonusses.

In this case product differentiation is bad.
Say you’re syncing your ST to your shiny new DT2. Then you can’t fully utilize the 128 steps on the DT2, since the ST will repeat after 64 steps. That can be OK if the ST is playing drums but it would make melodic stuff on the ST difficult or impossible.

Yep I agree. Perhaps they thought it was finally time to rip the band aid off this problem, and deal with the consequences

Yep. It really is the perfect little groovebox for me, especially as someone who does virtually no sampling. Of course it has limitations, but not enough that they can hinder my creativity, and I wouldn’t have moved away from DAW production if that was a concern.

In fact, the only feature I really wished it had was the ability to mix the left and right inputs separately as two mono signals, that way I could just plug both of my other synths into it and remove the mixer from my setup entirely. But I wouldn’t be disappointed even if it never got anymore updates.

this is my dream. the fors stuff would be awesome. more physical modelling
