New Syntakt Machine Predictions

That’s because one doesn’t want to sound it like in a rehearsal room, but like on a mixed record (which, amongst other things, means it’s highpassed a lot). All synth parameters are important here, not just the filter

I’m glad we’re all already disappointed before an official announcement has been made. :sunglasses:

Imho the odds of 64 steps being a hardware limitation are low, it’s purely a memory thing. I can be wrong only in case of ST having unreasonably low available memory which for a 2022 1000euro device is ridiculous.

It’s not just about the LEDs and lighting them up in various invented creative ways, it’s really about product differentiation IMO

Solid update.

Idk what about the differentiation, but the two products released within 2yrs and both costing so much should both have the same 128steps.

You’ve got to feel for Elektron here though. The feature was never mentioned with respect to Syntakt but you’re looking for it to be retrospectively implemented based on age of machine. What’s the logical conclusion to that? Syntakt owners get it and then AR MK2 owners expect/want the same? Where is the line drawn?

I think it’s great that Elektron update their devices and add new features, but you look across these sorts of threads and it seems inevitable that unreasonable expectations creep into the mix. A tough landscape for Elektron to navigate I think.

https://rhythm-circle.com/ a very intuitive way to understand how it works

What I’d really like to see are machines with 2 pages of parameter banks for extra editing flexibility like on digitone, I don’t know if the hardware components make it feasible, but as far as UI goes double pressing the Syn button could be a way of accessing page 2

There is no line.

This is Elektronauts.

Whatever Elektron do, we’ll find some way of turning it into something they’ve done wrong.

solid +1 for guys who say there should be the SYN2 page, I was thinking about it pretty much after I got the thing.

so you propose demand nothing from the company even when HW is in fact capable of the possible features? For me the line is hardware limitations, not the greediness of the business. and we as customers should not worry about that corporate stuff.

Maybe it will happen one day when Elektron stops supporting Syntakt and people make custom firmware . I have a feeling the probability of the Elektron implementing this themselves is less than 1/1000.

I don’t think it would require any more processing power since the synth engine and hidden parameters are all already there, I assume it might maybe use a bit more RAM if anything to store the parameter values and associated parameter locks in memory

New to capitalism?

I would.

What right do we have to demand anything?

What do Elektron owe us? It’s not like they forced us to buy their shit.

Updates are cool, but to expect things to be added just because you believe they are possible is weird.

+1 - The Fors stuff sounds really good. I’d love some more esoteric digital machines in the Syntakt like additive synthesis.

Hope and request - yes

Expect and demand - no

Just my humble opinion, your choice of words may be inviting moderator intervention. Ignore me as you like, of course.

EDIT: what @Acaera said.

guys, I know there will be no 128 steps, it’s just some difference in mindset we are discussing here (for whatever reason)
