New Roland thingy

Don’t worry.

Roland gear is unable to sense a clock ever

Correct, but Roland gear just sounds so freaking good. Case in point. SPD SX pro fattens up whatever I throw in on it without processing, but try to put sample libraries with subfolders and you’ve committed sin.

Absolutely.

And their drum kits are the best, too.

Thinking of getting a 2nd hand TD-17KVX2…

are these real?because they are very bad looking

EDrumcenter is a good US reseller if you are looking there. For most part most Roland kits sold as used hardly have mileage because the player is just trying to get rid of it. It’s like buy8mg a used octatrack. Touched for two hours and it’s yours for a bargain.

I just captured a print screen, which might be the reason of the lower quality pic

Are these real thingys?

Cheers!

I’m in London though so it’s Gumtree or Ebay for me!

Roland kits are so sturdy so happy to go 2nd hand!

Let’s hope so… they mention this:

“ Set it for a retro experience with architecture inspired by the original JUPITER-8. Or expand the polyphony to 32 voices to meet modern playing needs and craft all-new tonalities.”

So the retro experience… is it just the same engine but limited to 8 voices? Or is it a more detailed emulation (ACB)?

I recently bought a fucking power bank for 30€ that had a higher resolution display than these devices.

Hmmmmm, I feel like if it was ACB they would say something like “architecture modeled”… “inspired” isn’t the right word for it.

I think it’s either just voice limited or a new non ACB “vintage mode.” I hope it’s good

new jupiter boutique looks awesome, will probably jump on that one. all excitement I might have had for the wavetable synth fell out the window when I saw the 7-segment display and read the pamphlet talking about “deep, menu-driven sound design tools for advanced users.”

that’s a non-starter for me. that display is fine on a synth like the jupiter 8, and it’s fine for adjusting settings, and for effects it’s a stretch, but tolerable… actual programming though? on a synth that would benefit from being able to, you know, name patches or identify wavetables?

pretty mindblowing to me that they chose to use that display. what an unfortunate choice. I think it would be well worth even $50+ extra to have a proper display that could, you know, show a couple words at a time.

every time I use mine, I am thankful that they put a proper display on the D-05.

Thinking there’s still a sampling workstation out there that’s about to cause me to empty my wallet.
