The main thing that attracts me as standalone is the limitation imposed to work only with Ableton stock plugins and learn them very well. This way when coming back to computer 3rd party plugins will be used only if really needed resulting in better project optimisation
There’s this, https://forum.ableton.com/
which I assume is what you’re referring to.
However it’s a bit shit and flat
I posted a few questions there in the past that went completely ignored/unanswered and stopped bothering.
I like the fact that this release forces healthy competition. The announcement this week of the new Native Instruments branding is also a positive because you would never rebrand at this scale without launching with some form of new product or offering (not successfully anyway) and especially in this market.
I think NI knew Ableton was up to something and they were waiting for them to release it to see if they need to take more time to one up them.
I self impose that limitation when working on PUSH 2 with Live Suite- Its pretty much the only reason I use Live over Bitwig (when I am treating the experience like hardware driven by PUSH)
Yeah, that’s interesting how the timing is almost perfect. It’s going to be interesting to see what they come out with.
yeah, it’s exciting to watch how competitors will react. I own a M+ and I really hope they drop a fw update instead of a new hardware.
I never buy anything from them again. They are just not capable. What they did with machine+ was a shitshow. The UI is still shit. No graphics for envelopes, still mini icons of compressors and stuff to fill the screens which otherwise gets no good use. Pads are excellent thou.
Let’s hope they can redeem themselves. ![]()

i’ve muted this and still can’t escape it - please play nice, if you can’t manage that i can promise it’s a lot easier to deal with this one way than the other … best get along or walk along or sit it out ![]()
please and thanks

I was not doing that when I was using Push 2 but it is a very interesting approach. The advantage is that main parameters are already mapped with the Push
Yeah, this is something that attracts me to it as well. I really really like the stock plugins. I love Redux and Saturator, they get used on basically everything to some extent. I use Glue Compressor on every song, and I even use the stock echo frequently. Utility also ends up on basically every track. The stock reverb is surprisingly decent, and the convolution reverb is actually amazing (I understand it’s limited right now on push 3). And the chorus/ ensemble! I use it as much as my trusty CE-2w.
Yes, and with the possibility to group fx, create macro (for instance one knob to modify x parameters in the same time), save & label them it can go very far. I don’t know if it is possible to do this kind of operations from Push or if it needs to be done on computer before
I have an idea for a M4L device that can allow you to do basic scene chaining (think Digi’s song mode) from the available parameters on the Push standalone. The Live API has enough access to scenes to make this possible I believe. The UI will be a little clunky but I’m going to try to whip it up this weekend and test. Will report back.
NL here. Ordered the standalone Tuesday afternoon, received UPS tracking yesterday and it got delivered this morning. Unfortunately won’t be able to play with it until Sunday, but I also didn’t expect it to be delivered this fast
Wow, that was quick. Nice to hear you got your push. Feel free to post some impressions when you have time to play with it
Edit
What I’m hearing more often now is that orders placed on Tuesday afternoon seem to have shipped faster than those in the morning. Those who ordered in the morning don’t have a tracking number yet. I’ve read that several times now.
Oh man I could have sold you my spot…lol. To me M4l Is way deeper than a Cirklon for sequencing, it’'s really not close when you dive in and see all the chord modes for example, that Cirklon can’t do. Cirklon to me is an amazing build quality, super tight timing and while the intertrack operation is pretty cool it’s not something I personally had to have.
I sold my old Cirklon because of this. I also think the Cirklon is best suited for more of a Dawless work flow. While you can plug it in and control software with it, it seemed kind of redundant since I had more sequencing power in M4L.
The only issue with the P3 not having fulll M4L implemntation yet is that you can’t use all the sequencers in standalone. But if you connect the laptop thats a non issue, you are still able to send midi from the laptop right into the hardware from Push, which is pretty great. While using the Cirklon does not require a laptop attached, again, once that laptop is attached, the depth of options in M4L in it’s current stage is seriously amazing.
I think Push 3 will only get deeper with M4L sequencers, but it won’t be like that on day 1. Bummer, but the fact that they said they are continuing to build out the M4L integration makes this a game changing device still for me.
That is brutal. Mine is estimated to be delivered tomorrow (US, Standalone). I am crossing my fingers that no one gets sick or sent home early!
Yes, I’ll be waiting to see if / when the updates include this functionality. For me, in this aspect, I get more functionality from using the Akai Fire with Moss script and Bitwig.
Some diabolical YT thumbnails out there as a result of this weeks announcement
Regardless, I’m really looking forward to mine. ordered first thing Tuesday(UK) but still not heard anything. Will keep you posted and hope others do the same
One thing I’m wondering for those that get chance, or anyone : is it possible to map the MPE to something like sample length on Simpler so you could be altering pitch at the same time it’s shortening the sample?
Actually two things. Could I hook up an OP-Z via usb and have the midi from clips recorded into the OP-Zs different tracks/instruments etc?
