MDUW is in the back ground, not sure about the 2 red boxes tho…
The red boxes are PEQ and Spring Tanker from Bugbrand.
you are a dasher of dreams. I hope you’re happy.
Come on, we could have spent like 3 whole pages on this.

That is a mean stare. Made me think of…

Still wondering if the Sonicstate podcast was before the tape on the A4. Because in the Sonicstate podcast there was mentioned that some people had i right about the new machine. If so it’s not a analog tape thing???
Nope it’s not

I love Big Train.
It’s a spring in summer!
Well, I think Overbridge is starting to make some sense, because for this to work I think this machine will have to host the A4 / Rytm in the same way a computer does, so that audio can be streamed to it on a per track basis. Sending an A4 or Rytm mix to it from the main outs would not be super helpful. Plus, this machine could store states for the others.
I think we could see more than 4 tracks as well. Not more than 8 though. And there may be a step sequencer in order to sequence FX, just like the MX-1 does.
I could see this not being a Octatrack II per se, but an Octatrack reimagined – much more focused on FX, recording and mixing. But I think building this to use with other Elektron gear, but not taking advantage of USB hosting / Overbridge, well the more I think about it, it just doesn’t make sense. We think of the Octatrack as being “New Elektron” maybe because of the color, but really it is Old Elektron IMO. It was built with the idea of unifying the silver boxes while being a bit future proof in that it could work with the black boxes. Also, it made a good initial companion to the A4 alone. So the thing that gets left out of this new box is sample playback and MIDI control, but they could easily make a new box that just did those two things and it would be hosted by this new machine. That is better than weighing the Octa down with too much capability.
I think it’s like an analog mpc thing, but not like beat shit(necessarily). I only say this, because my used mpc 2500 should be coming in, and so it’ll cause me to overlap it. Maybe it’ll have Overbridge. Or maybe it’ll do an op1 kinda thing where you just load the audio files from the thing into a daw. But you can record automations on it.
I think this is it. The Elektron studio production center. Branching out on things that you can jam on to something you can actually compose, arrange and produce on. And it also leaves your hands free to record instruments in with like threshold triggering.
Surely it’s something along those lines
I would totally buy an Elektron MPC
Elektron already did this with the RYTM, which is really not quite an MPC replacement. But it’s the Elektron response to the desire for a modern MPC, and it seems quite unlikely to me that they’d take this any further in something new until the RYTM is discontinued.
I’ll keep saying this, but I really strongly doubt that whatever Elektron have up next is going to encroach in any significant way on anything they’ve made yet. I’ll eat my Machinedrum (or at least the TM-1) if I’m wrong. Still thinking along the lines of an analog filter/distortion device with Overbridge. Maybe some kind of phrase looper. Maybe a series of devices like this, little FX/utilities. But I’ll be more surprised than Donald Trump at a foreign policy meeting if whatever Elektron comes along with next shows that much commonality with their previous full-featured gear.
how long is theire office closed? Soon after that they should reveal the new product, even if it is in bloddy alpha-stage, that doesn’t matter to me.
I’m in a shopping-mood… and i have to make a decision between some products and i can’t wait till christmas
absolutely agree!
From a marketing playbook point of view this is a terrible example of a teaser campaign, still this post is already among the most popular ones ever. Strange
dunno, 1245 comments says people are significantly teased
