Native Instruments Maschine 3

512GB card in mine, and i’m pretty sure Expansions are store on it.

So I treated myself to the bundle and oh rejoice the Maschine Central also runs standalone.

7.5 GB installed and 3.1 GB download.

I think the new (old) sounds are pretty good so far.

Have fun

What do you mean by ‘running standalone’…?

Stand alone, i.e. not connected to the Maschine software.

As mentioned above, I bought the update for the software (Maschine 3) and the expansion Maschine Central (aka the bundle). And to my surprise, shortly after ordering, I had the expansion as a content download on the Maschine+.

I then downloaded it using the internal download tool on the Maschine+. And it works as expected. That was a nice surprise.

I use the latest regular (not beta) version on my Maschine+.

Yes, everything is stored and saved onto the SD-card.

And yes, it seems the new Maschine Central is an ‘EXPansion’ pack instead of a complete new factory library (as which it was announced). That’s why it’s relatively small.

Yes, exactly that, a little best-of from the Komplete (Kontakt) libraries, so to speak. Everything nicely mapped in Maschine (multisamples). The sounds are also not so overloaded with effects.

Basically, you’ve had the sounds for years if you have Komplete. That’s why new (old) . But what I like and I’m happy to pay for is that they save me a lot of work.

On the other hand if you have the muse and patience to sample your Kontakt libs with the autosampler and then map them in the Maschine software, then you can save yourself the expansion.

Good to know.

Release notes don’t show this Expansion to be “optimized to work with the M+” just yet, so hence my confusion and why i’m not getting it just yet.

Seems to be some suggestion that Maschine 3 (without the Expansion) might be a free update/upgrade for M+ users in standalone only from 1 of the NI admin’s on Native Instruments, but he’s asked for clarification from another admin more closely aligned to this project.

Be great it’s free for those of us who only use the M+ in standalone.

Totally confusing, transparency is definitely something else.
I first read about the stand-alone option in another forum and the information didn’t come from NI.

I would be happy for all M+ users, that would also be fair because of all the delays.

I’ve already bought the update, but won’t install it on my main system because I don’t want to lose my compatibility with the M+. The same applies to all M+ plugins (Reaktor/Kontakt etc).

That’s great news

Just installing it as well!

I am out of the loop with Maschine but still love using Reaktor, have lots of ensembles i built plus lots of ens i have mangled from the libray… Have been offered a cheap Maschine+… Is it worth getting just for Reaktor or just a (Komplete) fail??
Taaa

Nope.

I made reaktor patches before for Maschine plus, or converted existing ones. I would say it’s worth it if you always wanted to run those on a (physically quite large) external groove box.
A lot of the hype is with other newer devices these days, but fundamentally the Maschine is still a capable beat creation tool. Even if a lot of vocal users, including me, wanted it to be something more capable by now 🤷.
In fact all the negative comments make me wonder why there is no bad gear episode about it yet

I should add on that there is a little convoluted process for converting reaktor patches for standalone use. It is doable though.

This is the best instruction I could find and it worked for me. It’s quite the process, but does the job mostly:

See if that sounds too complicated. I spent many frustrating hours trying to get all the controller mappings right. Not sure if it was worth it haha

If you don’t mind my asking, what were the best generative ones you got working well?
Thanks

This thread is a good resource:

Also just searching Maschine plus in the official reaktor community ensemble library gets you some as well.

I personally haven’t converted any generative ones.

Many thanks y’all much appreciated!

Does anyone know if Maschine 3 supports polyphonic AT yet?

Not yet. Waiting for it with my Hydrasynth as Midi Keyboard

How does Maschine handle 3rd party plugins? Are they accessible from the hardware?
