I wonder if the recent price increase is related to this. One would have hoped the change would bring the US price more in line with the European pricing.
Only speculation, but it must have been a strain having a major competitor also your distributor in one of your major markets. Their agreement must have had provisions to mitigate this conflict of interest, but the new arrangement should suit them better.
A change like this though will need some time to settle in.
Will there be ...
a warehouse sale ?
Just placed a pre-order for that new Zoom H1 Essential. Super excited about it. I love my current H1, but I’ve definitely ran into some issues when recording foley sounds with things clipping for my projects.
So this thing will be AMAZING for my purposes(as well as looking really damn good).
Still have a hankering to get the H6 because, as I start to work with more voice actors, it will be SO NICE to not have to pack up my laptop if I have to go to them
The H6 is a great recorder. Sometimes when I go for walks I have it recording while I monitor with headphones. Comes through so clear that you feel like you have super hearing. Dead simple to use too.
I had the original one as well(but it didn’t get much use).
Fond Memories with the H6
It was one of my favorite things, when I lived in Chicago) was walking around on a cold late winter day with that thing on a handle accessory and windscreen on the mic.
Partially because it was very meditative, but also because tourists would see me and think I was actually 2 Legit 2 Quit.
One time on my audio adventures in Chi-town, I came across a portion of town where they were filming for a TV show- if I had my wits about me I prolly could have conned my way into a job, but I didn’t and still don’t
But yeah, I’ve always really loved the zoom field recorders, they always sound fantastic and you can’t beat the price of them. Once I get my H1, my fanboy allegiance to Elektron might shift over to Zoom(thus making me come off as even more pretentious)
I’d love if they release an upgraded H5 as well.
H6 is too big to have it in backpack for occasional recordings, and the lower models don’t have interchangeable capsules which I found very useful.
Hammond showed their new organ / synth the M-Solo.
It has 49 keys and drawbar controls, with six voice types – four organs, a string-ensemble and a simple polyphonic synthesizer.
It comes in both black and burgundy. I see it is currently in the stores and costs $1300 USD.
This marks a continuation by Hammond into the more affordable market, they introduced the XK-4 at last year’s NAMM. ( post )
Didn’t they debut the M-Solo at Knobcon? I could have sworn I saw it there. Maybe it was a few weeks after.
I believe they missed a real opportunity there launching a product named Ham Solo
… I’ll see myself out.
There’ve been lost/destroyed knowledge all throughout history that there should’ve been stewards for.
Delayed detonation.
Arturia showed the Polybrute 12 with polyphonic-aftertouch keys at NAMM !!
( post )
It looks beautiful!
Interesting, I hope it doesn’t add any weight!
Maybe their new Keyboard controller with Poly Aftertouch. That big wheel looks like a Preset selector.
You’re right, and there are some sort of controls in the upper right, and wheels on the upper left. But wouldn’t you expect more control on a premium controller ?
The wood on it obviously makes it more of a premium product.
I thought something like a simpler instrument like with their “Keyboard Collection” built-in, but does Arturia do that sort of thing ?
