Oh, I just saw that the king of FM has already been officially crowned :crown:! So does the thread have to be closed now?

(Recorded straight to phone, too loud for Youtube that lowered it by 10 dbs :sob:)
Extracted MP3 from video :

DN2 doesn’t make DN1 weaker and you make it sound really well.
(Btw is there is extra multitrack processing ?).

DN2 can do exactly the same, plus tons of things more.
No debate possible soundwise, unless yellow screen and buttons change the sound. :content:

I had a DN1 for a week next to DN2. I can’t see any reason to prefer it. Only one feature of following suffice for me…

Usable Mutes !
Key Tracking !
Compressor with sidechain !
Comb Filters !
Fx routing !
Selectable Control All !
3 lfos !
Tracks and Polyphony !
Kits !

I always just start by making a sound. As soon as it sounds interesting to me, things start to fall into place in my head, and the rest just flows. So it really doesn’t completely matter which gear is in front of me. As long as I can get that sound created, the rest will happen automatically.

I’ve always wondered for me when I have an idea of a sound in my minds eye it is shifting I think even if I don’t know it, the second a sound enters my ear and I start to shape it the original image is lost without my knowing… yes I end up with a thing that at its core is the general idea but the nuances are all about explorations. Never using randomization is like never using noise. Do you curate randomness within a machine or from stimulus from outside or both. Obviously well it’s not that simple and perfectly fine to prefer one way or another or to believe that everything you do was birthed from within without randomness.

I like Baseck’s sound design, and while his patterns are great, they’re a bit on the hyperactive side for me. I appreciate them, but they’re not to my sit back and listen taste.

This evening’s Digitone II tune:

I like this message.
I don’t own a DT or DT2, but I’m finally experiencing the benefits of limitations after years of GAS and trying to buy capabilities instead of developing my own. I’m getting far more and better tunes out of an MPC2500 than I ever have with MPC Live, Ableton, other higher spec gear.
