MPC One+ has no hard drive options but does have 16GB internal storage - I assume it is just an internal SD card?
So should I store all my personal samples onto the internal drive?
Or onto a separate removable SD card?

Itâs commonly recommended to NOT store on the factory/main drive.
Most will recommend all
Samples and apps be installed on an SD card. Others with knowledge will be able to speak on the exact reasons.
Iâve heard that too. When I got my MPC Live II there was no secondary hard drive (Iâve since added one) so everything the previous owner installed is on the internal. Is there an âeasyâ way to remove the extra stuff from the internal and move it to the secondary?
For plugins, thereâs an option to choose which memory to install them on; look in the MPC settings. For samples, I donât know if thereâs a copy/paste option; Iâve never done that. When I got my MPC, I immediately added an SSD.
I did adjust that option to install apps to the SSD, but is there a way to move the ones that are currently installed on the internal?
Itâs established best practice to simply ignore the internal storage and to not use it at all. Unfortunately, many MPCs have been bricked after using the internal storage.
I moved my âsynthsâ folder (I believe that is what Akai names the default plugin folder) to my external SD via drag and drop as if it were any other folder. From there I set it as the default folder to install all future plugins.
Once you set the system default setting to point to your external SD folder, you donât need the duplicate folder on your internal drive anymore.
I havenât ever had any issues.
Donât do this, itâs a pain in the ass to get them off the internal drive and Iâve read either here or on mpc dedicated forums that it can cause stability issues to put your own stuff on the internal drive.
I would agree if weâre talking about the factory internal. If youâve installed your own large internal drive thereâs no issues saving your samples to it.
The issues come when the factory internal is filled to or near capacity.
We have to be getting new hardware any dayâŚright?
They discontinued their most popular device in the MPC Live 2 at all major retailers, spent a ton of dev time on a completely new OS that doesnât even have dedicated buttons for major new features on the current hardware, have an FCC filing for a new device the shape of an MPC Live, and have been oddly quiet on every front including being really slow on firmware updates for their new OS and all of this doesnât point to new hardware any day now with some shiny new firmware update on launch date with new instruments and features/fixes?
I couldnât imagine from a business standpoint having your most popular device not generating money at every major retailer being a great business practice for too long, especially with a new OS generating attention and now that attention getting less. Hence why Apple and most companies pair a new OS with the launch of new hardware. The new iOS goes live when the new iPhone comes out. MPC Live 2 has been discontinued for what feels like months now.
Tariffs with china are still being negotiated by the US govt - I think we wonât see any new product announcements till after those are finalized
New official MPC Expansion available now:

Personally I donât take any software/expansion pricing seriously. The real price is $19.99 minus any additional promo code discount. I know because thatâs what Akai charges for them for very large chunks of every year.
Unless you just donât know how to create, tweak or sample your own sounds and have none at all; I would recommend waiting for the next sale. Iâm confident itâs imminent. Black Friday at the latest.
*I do like to support some specific labels and sound designers with early purchases of their packs.
I suspect they will never be finalized, and manufacturers will soon begin just throwing up their hands and making everything expensive to cover all the bases, with flash sales when possible/affordable. Thereâs really no way to competently plan for the future in this climate
although, to be clear, I am just some guy guessing wildly like everyone else
I guess this is my confusion, if I connect it to the computer I only see the SSD I added. How can I mount the internal drive so that I can do a drag an drop?
Thatâs correct, you can only see the SSD. The guides actually say to remove the Synth folder from the internal storage, restart the MPC, set the default external storage, and reinstall the plugins. @KingMidas How did you move the folder? Did you do it directly from the MPC?
You guys are right. I must have misspoke as I canât access the internal at all. Iâm not even sure how I deleted the original internal synth folder atm
exactly. How can you remove the synth folder from internal storage if there is no way to access the drive?
You need to log in from the MPC, go to the browser, select âPlacesâ at the top, and then on the left youâll find the list of your memories, click on âInternalâ and youâll find the Synths folder. For a clean reinstall, you should also remove any Synths folders from the external memory. " @Megamind I made a mistake first, the folder on the external memory should be called, preciselyâŚSynths If you buy expansions for the plugins, you need to create a second folder called âPlugin Expansionsâ
Is it safe to delete the âDemosâ folder? I never use them.
