MPC Thread : MPC Live - MPC X - MPC One (Part 3)

Say what you must about NI but the distance between their sounds and everyone else’s has never been more evident to me than on this box.

Having all of my Native Instruments expansions as kits and instruments on my MPC, tagged with previews is absurd.

Kit Maker? Love it. Had some trouble with older NI Expansions e.g. some missing previews, but the new ones are converted quite reliable.

MPC back in the setup. Hopefully I’ll gel with the One and 3.4 software more than the Live II when it came out.

Maybe I missed something, how are you getting your Maschine expansions into the MPC? I know no did the plugins, but are expansions are a part of it?

I don’t know why, but this is the best picture of the red MPC One I’ve seen. Maybe it’s because that shade of red looks more muted than usual, but still bold enough to standout in the black & white world.
I like how your dusty pads look like a photo of space chopped up into 16 pieces!

I used the app Kitmaker to bulk create the kits and akai’s MPC Expansion Builder for the artwork and standalone search filter (tag) customization so they work like the factory ones.

I’ve been highly critical of Native Instruments over the past few years but I gotta give them flowers where due. Brilliant move bringing their expansions and play series to MPC.

Agree on the dust thing. Hey how bad are the dust? I have zero tolerance. Yeah I know that’s sick, but i use dual protection, a deck saver and a plastic blanket. Sometimes i don’t want to make music cause its some work to remove all the covers, but also remember my setup is in the bedroom so I need zero dust tolerance but beside the esthetic look, could it really mess up your stuff? I read in the Dilla book that he started his day dusting off the machines, I ve done that too since way back but maybe I’m on a “unhealthy” level with dual protections and all. thoughts?

the good part with this unhealthy level is that when i sell off gear 5 years later they look like they were bought yesterday.

I only have some Decksavers for some of my gear. I’ll put a window curtain over everything & use paint brushes. I also use a rubber air-blower that’s used in photography. I don’t really worry too much about dust. I’m kinda ruff on my gear, so it’ll look used after some time, but I don’t really sell gear so I don’t mind.

This is a nice tip :ok_hand:t5:

Besides my decksaver, these are my fav accessories so far:

Adjustable laptop feet for optimal angles. Put these on all of my gear because Carpal Tunnel is real.

Microfiber brush, rag and piece of tech goo. Essential for keeping Live 2 smudge, fingerprint and dust free while using.

Sandisk dual USB A/C drive. Clutch for backing up projects and moving sounds between iOS devices/laptop. Especially when you also have internal or flash memory. Removes the need to be tethered to controller mode.

This is a big one. USBC PD —> DC 20V cable and 65W wall plug so you don’t have to carry around that big goofy ass one that comes with it. Also works great with powerbanks. $8 on Amazon. Folks spend way too much money on em for no damn reason lol. The internal battery is great, this is a cheap way to make sure mine is always ready2cook. I have one in every room and gear bag.

Do you have a link for your favorite adjustable laptop feet? Seems so simple and smart.

Anyone else notice some audio gaps when using the next seq mode?
I played around in this mode quite a bit in earlier OS but it seemed like no problem then.
Is this something to do with my settings or something ?
I hardly ever use any plugins , and my projects are normally pretty CPU light.
Having a hard time enjoying flipping through my sequences now , because there is a small interruption when I switch.

I do it a bit different but this is essentially one of, if not my fav feature. Only thing that frustrates me about Live 2 so far is how long it took me to get another mpc. Perhaps a clear downside to inhaling copious amounts of way too high grade :hibiscus:

I do experienced the same small silences when switching sequences. I think it has something to do with the new sequence mute settings.
If I export the sequences as one long sequence in song mode the problem doesn’t occur anymore.

Yeah , converting to song mode fix it , but would have been awesome to be able to play sequences in jam situations or just grooving without the commitment of converting.

Yep this is a mind blowing feature, and has been around pretty early on. I think i might do a multisample key group and sample my moog grandmother.
