MPC Thread : MPC Live - MPC X - MPC One (Part 3)

Thanks! I thought it converted once a sample was loaded into the project.

Quick note that I got an expression to midi converter to finally get a sustain pedal on my MPC Live when playing standalone on the sofa. And it’s totally transformed playing melodies on the pads. MPE might be nice but with sustain and the built in velocity and poly aftertouch they’re pretty good as they are.

Can imagine just using the MPC standalone in a performance. If they make the looper a bit better or just merge it into overdub on audio tracks it’ll be close to perfect.

agree with a lot of Atruwest sentiments, but I do think there is a difference between brand loyalty and brand trust and that often the two can be conflated.
There is no model of the MPC that you cannot make good beats on, that fact has been documented so really when it comes down to it there are no constraints to bog you down in this regard we are free to focus on the workflow that serves us best imho, and the compatibility with external audio interfaces and mixers is just the icing on the cake.

Does anyone know if it is possible to monitor external gear through the drum track?
I have a synth going into 3/4 and have a beat going.
I would like to get a healthy good signal in, but in the same time, listen to this source a little lower.
I would like to record one shots from my synth into the drum track, but I cant hear the sound when I put the monitor to on.
I can record directly in the sampler, but then I dont have access to a volume fader.
Thanks

You can’t monitor external audio through a drum track, but it is possible using an audio track.
Add an audio track for monitoring and set its Monitor to ā€œIn.ā€ Lowering the track volume will also lower the monitoring volume.
Make sure to turn off monitoring on the sampler or looper.

He mentions that the interface he uses has the best Sabre converters in it that are in super expensive interface’s but some other really good interface use burr brown converters too that are not as crystal clear but more warm but those are the ones in the SE… So he himself is saying the converters are at the top level, while falling to a little of band bias himself I think… He expects his appogee to be better so it is, while he admits interface with Burr Brown converters are about as good not knowing that is what he had in the SE. Stuff like this is why I don’t take claims serious and better to just use what you like… There is really no best…

Someone get to work providing an awesome song for me, then record versions through these different converters, then google file drop them to me (24bit minimum please and thank you) so I can listen and get to the bottom of this.

Please and thank you.

I use my ears, they haven’t failed yet in letting me know whether I like the sound of something or not, and I’ve heard music I liked and didn’t like out of every single mpc so for me it’s a non-issue…

he’s a good guy though, he’d be interested in knowing about those converters… have you let him know by any chance?

Seems like a more of the same BS. Whatever sonic difference there may be isn’t that noticeable If at all. If your music is great or sucks none of this matters.

thanks, will check it out

He covered some stuff on that the one you posted didn’t, but it’s not as deep. I wish Mike did more videos. He’s like Conan, but with less wasted words. That pink-noise tip is dope! I’m going to download some & try it out. Thanks for sharing this gem!
