It’s really trivial - for example I want a single note of 6x 16ths (so a 1/4 note + 8th note), starting from 3rd 16th in a one bar clip.
The options that I can see are:
record it by playing live & pray it works
while in 16ths grid - tap the 3rd 16th, switch to Edit End, turn the dial to increase the length to 6x 16ths
while in 1/4 notes grid - tap a note, switch to 16ths, nudge 2 steps right, Edit End and increase length to 6x 16ths
EDIT: perhaps there’s a way to extend the note with one of Q-Links? I’ll have to try this when I’m back home
Those aren’t bad, but I was hoping - while in 16ths grid - to simply tap the 3rd and without lifting a finger to drag it to the right to paint a continuous note.
The problem is that the desired quantity has to be some divisible of what you want, or it needs another way to be precisely entered. The reason live record works is because gated notes are a form of setting length, the gate opens when you press the pad/key and closes when you release it.
If the sequencer is set to time correct, it will interpret the length of the note you played, if time correct is off then it will take your literal input as the exact gate length.
When you tap the grid, you’re only populating a check box, so the length has to be predetermined otherwise there is no equivalent of a gate.
Maybe they could make it like computer golf where you hold down one button to set the length and the next one to set the strength of the shot! lol
My MPC One has been gathering dust but decided to finally learn it after MPC 3 release. First issue I’m running into - how to sustain a loop? I’m creating a key group of some samples I’ve recorded and want to loop the middle section during sustain and then play the remainder during the amp envelope release. I can set the loop (after disabling loop lock) but the release portion just repeats my loop section and the portion of the sample after loop end is never played.
Have a few expansions to install on my MPC Key 61. I tried using the MPC software importer and directly unarchiving the XPN file to the expansions folder.
Both seemed to work but haven’t tested extensively.
Is there anything to consider by going the unarchiving way? Will it miss some features? It’s faster and you don’t need to waste space on the computer to install the package there and then import to the MPC.
Has anyone else noticed some odd behavior in the amp section when looping samples with key groups?
I’ve been playing with single cycle waves and 50% of the time, the sound cuts off abruptly, regardless of how I have the envelope set or the loop behavior set
Me too, it would be a massive improvement to the arranger workflow. I don’t know how AKAI has arrived at this situation? When I look at on line demonstrators their tunes are often simple four bar phrases built up into songs, little variation, just repeat the same thing over and over. If that’s how most users use the MPC, then the present arranger is ok. But is this how people use the MPC in real life? If you want variety, then you’ll need an easy way to arrange midi phrases - hopefully AKAI will improve upon the current arranger situation with the loop marker and hit and miss touch screen.
Just got a used MPC Live 2 for a good deal
Speaker is perfect for couch chilling, HW feels great
Missing the clip/scene workflow from Force or patterns from Maschine but am trying to adapt
Is the only way to duplicate a sequence to use the touch screen pencil icon on Main?
Was hoping there would be some quick HW button combo but I didn’t find anything so far…
example holding duplicate button on Force/Maschine then pressing the Clip/Scene or Pattern pad to duplicate then the new pad to duplicate too
Seems like one of the most important functions but maybe I gotta learn to adapt and use less seqs or embrace the touch screen heh
Or you can string sequences together with different stored mute states. You can also go to track mute and live mute and unmute. You should be able to automate the latter, but current O.S. is more miss than hit on track mute automation
none of them are bad, it’s just that everybody is not the same… for me the mpc was already fine, always wished the mixer to have a vertical option though.
Did the release version of MPC 3 get fixed so that when you add an effect to the input bus on the Sampler page the Q-links are actually assigned to effect parameters?
Previously it just displayed and assigned nothing for the selected effects.
