Sample chopping is pretty much the same & nothing that was added to MPC since Nov 2023 is currently on the Force besides the features that came from the Force, which as Akai put, the Force not discontinued but on hold - whatever the hell that means but I got my theory.
I would go on Akai YouTube channel & watch all the Force OS update videos to get a sense of what’s on. They’re actually pretty well made.
I listed those MPC & Force differences in my other post to you to let you know if it’s worth it. I wouldn’t pick a Live or any MPC over the Force because some NI plugins. The KGXL is more tempting but, I hate the MPC sequencer bc it lacks clips & I really love the crossfader.
I’ll ask the MockbaMod dudes if they make something like the KGXL on the Force.
Thanks, owned all of the new MPCs except for X mate. I was hoping the OS was unified by now, but it seems Force is the ugly duckling like me. Sad as the features look so much better than the Live, but the new keygroups sampling etc does make it more attractive than the Force now.
Definitely add Air Delay Pro if you can get a deal, even via PB… it’s worth having on the MPC AND the vst inside your DAW of choice.
(Air Flavor Pro is also worth having, but less so than Delay Pro IMO.)
I don’t think most MPC heads could handle full uniformity all at once, but it seems to be get closer little by little. MPC3 currently has no time-sigs other than 4/4, no PC software & 1:1 program to tracks & the Arranger like the Force.
The time-sigs feature is supposed to added later, but this just adds to my theory that’s why they put the Force on hold because if they could make it work on the MPC after the adopted the Force OS they could make could add it to the Force & than they could add the clip-matrix & the rest of the Force macros to the MPC then the merger would be pretty much complete.
I was on the Force MockbaMod Discord yesterday & read that, even tho the 2 platform OS are similar they’re different enough that making simple changes like adding the same feature, isn’t so simple. If that’s the case it make more sense to focus on the MPC3 AKA Force-lite & fix all the problems there whlie adding new things & then carry that to the Force or a new Force like unit like the MPC32/64. I know that if the MPC get the clip-matrix many will want more pads & dedicated buttons.
Can’t wait for a hypothetical MPC64. Meanwhile those with Akai force and any MPC (specially the ones with Keys) on their setup how do you think they match? It’s a good scenario? Using for example Force as the arranger and the MPC as a sound module?
If there’s one for the Force third party OS then there’s gotta be one the way more famous MPC. I never look for a MPC or even a general Force Discord, but maybe someone else knows a good one or try looking it up. If I find a good one for the MPC I’ll post it here & you do the same.
Are most people using the arranger mode to build one long take like I saw in the Malo Beats video or still using multiple sequences? Any pros and cons to share for either approach?
I’ve endured the one long sequence thing. It’s tedious to set up and I don’t enjoy it. Forced into setting loop regions and tapping away at that screen isn’t exactly inspiring.
I’m hoping AKAI will fix muting automation., which would be my preferred way to jam out an arrangement. Currently this doesn’t work. I’ve seen others use it on YouTube and used the same settings, but to no avail. There were bugs in the beta that didn’t get ironed out.
I’m still on MPC2 and still use it in the most basic way ever. Just put loops into drum programs for live sets and sequence the loops from my Syntakt. I do this because the MPC sound quality and fx are top notch and super fast to set up a live show. So basically, after 6-8 months I still don’t even know how to use the damn thing
A disadvantage of this method is it’s tougher to do on the fly manipulations like I can do on my Octatrack, but the way I’m doing it now is less accident prone.
One day soon, I’d like to get MPC3 installed and set aside the time to learn how to actually use it for writing tunes. Maybe find a good top to bottom course. But for now, I think it’s well worth the price for even the super basic way I use it
Did anybody else get that email about the new MPCstuff products? I think I mentioned a while ago, that they acquired distribution rights to the screen tilt kit from that Australian kid who engineered it. Initially there was a price hike, but it looks like they dropped that kit cost by nearly $25 since the last time I saw it on their site so it’s now $89 which I think is $6 less than the cost of that old Kofi link to the original sales page.
Prices are $139 for the One and $149 for key37, of course if you got the email, then you already know this.
A few other less relevant additions to their catalogue as well, and you know the website address so I’m not going to link the mpcstuff site, but if you’re interested you can go check it out and see what they have in stock.
Another quick thing: I posted this in the big hip hop thread a while back but figured just in case someone was interested, I would drop the information here as well.
I found a little walk through for adding a control layer to the SP1200 ring vintage plugin which is pretty cool because their SP ring sound at the default setting is a little over the top exaggerated but with this you can dial in the amount and it’s the only vintage effect plugin which you can do this with. I don’t know on which forum dude found this information but big ups to whoever figured it out.
Anyways, if that sounds at all interesting here’s the video that shows how to add the control layer and the workaround which allows you to save it as a plugin.
This dude does some really dope side by side vintage sampler comparisons so check out his other videos if you’re interested, I don’t think he’s on this forum but maybe someone knows him from over on the MPC forums or something, I’m not a member over there.
I posted the screen mod but it got buried & found out about the battery later. I meant to post it but got busy & forgot. I hope they team up with the dude that selling the 4GB RAM updates:
Many people would prefer a tiltable screen. I hope they offer this version I found on the Force MockbaMod discord which is also where I just found out the RAM dude be at, getting info before he did his upgrade:
