It’s cos of blokes like you they only go for the chips!
Although to be fair, a seagull and mussels shepherds pie would probably be damn delicious on a cold day at the seaside…

hey dudes,
is there anywhere I can find Albacore (white) tuna?
I’ve only been to Woolworths, Coles and Aldi. They seem to only stock Yellowfin.
Is canned solid white tuna a thing here?
Try the IGA. Independently owned so stock may be different from store to store - some websites are definitely showing it though.
there’s one down the street here, I’ll check it out, thanks
Hey dudes
I’m gonna sell a few pieces of gear in the next couple weeks.
Who should I look to for shipping in Australia?
Australian Post?
In the US there’s a UPS or FedEx everywhere, but I don’t know what the equivalent is here.
Cheers
Pretty much.
If its huge or heavy the usual couriers, google will be your friend I guess. UPS, Fedex, Fast track, they all operate here. Ive always used Auspost, never had an issue.
Been using aus post as a seller for years and never had a single issue.
Had a few more recent issues as a buyer though. Signature on delivery looks to have been canned for a while due to the pandemic which is fair enough but it isn’t great for security as some drivers are aren’t so good about not leaving expensive packages out in plain sight when they were actually supposed to take them back to the nearest post office. Housemate’s brand new phone was supposed to be a registered parcel - she found it n the front garden one morning. I’ve had shit not turn up at all, not sure if lost (international) shipping or delivered to wrong house. Either way, was an expensive textbook and the seller had to wear the cost of a refund. Plenty of other people on reddit etc will join in on the rant with stories of their own if you give them the chance.
So unfortunately the days might be gone where you can pop something in the post and assume the buyer will have it in their sweaty little hands a few days later.
Workarounds: if there’s no Click & Collect option for your sales medium (eg ebay) you can also use the address of the nearest post office as the shipping address or suggest to the seller they organise a parcel locker if they need to collect out of hours (it’s free). Delivery drivers are overworked and underpaid so assume if there’s to be a fuckup it’ll happen to your parcel.
Also, International had been more risky than usual due to reduced shipping capacity and longer wait times. Not sure where they’re at now. Unscrupulous types will happily lodge a claim on a late parcel but keep it anyway once it turns up if they can get away with it.
Cool thanks for the ideas
Do you guys use Reverb down here? I was looking, I didn’t see much from AUS when I changed my region.
Saw some stuff on eBay.
I’m gonna try forums first, might get lucky with a local sale, if we can figure out how to navigate the lockdown.
Just say ‘can I please ship that registered’ when u ship your box, that way you’ll get a tracking number. Anything you ship ‘Express Post’, will go faster, cost more, and come with tracking automatically.
Reverb tends not to be as popular here I think due to the shipping costs… and sheer distance from the goods probably. At least that’s my sense.
No not really
Gumtree has served me well. Also on facebook, the aussie wigglers group - ive bought and sold gear on there. Its a closed group and everyone is legit. No dickheads at all.
I posted stuff on here, didnt have any joy.
Ive never used reverb, read somewhere now that they’ve grabbed part of ebays market slice they’re pulling the same tricks.
Mostly sold stuff on ebay and a few things on this forum. Tend to put my ebay listing on this forum for the extra views. Worth putting up with the extra fees and bs to not have to deal face to face with dickheads.
Also see a fair amount of stuff advertised on gumtree but previous experiences gave me so little joy I’m not sure if it’s worth it. Know a few people done well selling stuff on fb marketplace.
Face book market place , and yeah if your in a closed group (mgn) it’s very safe.
Gumtree’s worked well for me as both a buyer and seller of various music gear over the years. Looking around me, most of what I own (and I own too much) came from Gumtree. Usual dealing-with-randoms caveats apply, of course.
That said, the Elektronauts marketplace might be your safest bet, given there are plenty of long-term Australian participants on here and many have either bought from or sold to other Elektronauts.
To all the aussies happy lockdown groudhog day number infinity. Im heading back to the mental health thread for some hope.
Take care, dear @Cosmic. It’s a strange ol’ time!
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Heading back to online shopping therapy. 6 new FX pedals in the last month.
Ive been tempted but holding out so far.
