Most disconcerting (non-violent) films you've seen?

…the most depressing movie i’d ever seen…never gonna watch it a second time in my life…

Agreed with others above, Requiem For a Dream was truly traumatizing.

Some lighter (mostly non-violent) fare:

Pi (Aronofsky’s first)
Blue Velvet (along with so many other of Lynch’s classics)
Solaris (both versions)
…and most recently: Vesper and Nope.

And as many filmic projects are now multi-episodic Netflix style works: Dark is amazing.

I came here to post this. Incredibly uncomfortable movie but I loved every second of it. It’s so beautifully shot and scripted. Anyone who likes artsy movies should watch it.

Enter The Void.

That is some wild shit right there. First time I saw it was on acid, and I both highly recommend and do not recommend you do the same.

100%. Seriously disturbing. Actually went on a first date to see that movie FFS

Wake In Fright. The original 70s version. It’s one of my favourite films but so many people I’ve tried to watch it with found it too uncomfortable to watch.

I saw that at the Edinburgh film theatre on a midnight screening. Messed up film, but quite enjoyable.

Agree mostly:
Blue velvet - not violent?
Clooney Solaris - hmmmm….

That does not sound wise with that film

Yeah, Requiem ruined me for about a month.

Absolutely horrifying film.

Ticket to Paradise was fucking disconcerting.

Yeah RFAD’s impact is that it starts out all cool and good music and fun and then slowly winds itself up to those gut punches at the end. I’m not sure it’s disconcerting. A better description might be emotionally traumatising

Dancer in the Dark

The happy ending felt a bit tacked on.

I once picked this film to watch with my ex girlfriend on our first date, to set the mood hahaha. smh…
