Firmware v1.3.0 Highlights :
I feel like thatās what it needs though. plenty of features there already! just clean up any bugs.
edit:
Additionally, firmware updates may now be performed using a flash drive with the USB-A port in the rear of Muse.*
thatās actually quite a nice new feature! makes it easier than running a USB cable across the room to mine. now, if I can just locate a flash driveā¦
Nickās signal chain always sounds so good.
Can the Muse load custom tunings or Scala files? I canāt seem to find anything online about this
Interesting learning whatās going on with this and the first batch. Especially given the flood happening. Sounds like Moog has the initial issues to address. I doubt Iāll be swayed to spend money on this over the Teo-5, as much as I enjoy the Moog sound and the thought of a poly Moog, but by the time I get to considering purchasing a synth in that price range theyāll likely have the major issues addressed and have more units out. Iāll definitely bee hanging around for peopleās demoās and perhaps sample some for some interesting sounds to mangle in the mean time.
glad i found this thread as was about to pull the trigger on this - worrying tuning issues?
The great thing about Legowelt is he is a musician and not a āgear head.ā He takes things as they are and makes great sounds with them. He never asks about firmware updates. 90% of us here could learn a lot from his spirit.
I wouldnāt say itās exactly a plague of them. Iāve seen I think one or two cases where the person couldnāt resolve it and elected to return it. which could mean they werenāt solvable āin the fieldā, or that the person didnāt want to mess with it.
Iāve had no tuning issues with mine. Iāve only tuned it once in six months (other than upon receipt). and it was recently; likely because the temp in my studio space has fluctuated with this arctic cold lately.
you can also check on GearSpace, for background on this. a lot more chatter there. which is good and band⦠basically a lot more whining and bickering, too
Adding to that ⦠if I were buying a Muse now and had tuning concerns going into the sale, Iād want to know that an exchange or return to the dealer was easy if needed. I wouldnāt buy a Muse from a sketchy store with a lower price, or if I lived far away from the dealer and couldnāt easily send the synth back.
I say this because my firsthand and secondhand tech support experience as a Matriarch owner, even before the Moog sale and the flood, was uneven. I got good help from Moog support, but from what I read not everyone did. (No idea how it is under the current regime.)
So be sure the dealer will back you up if you need to send the synth back.
fwiw
Thatās really surprising. Luckily, I was never that interested in a Moog. But I would have bet if you pay that kind of premium price, youāre guaranteed to get excellent service.
Like I say, I got good phone support, but my sense secondhand, reading the forums, was that not everyone always got the immediate problem resolution they needed. I donāt think the staff were indifferent, I think it was a small company (probably with a small support team) that sometimes made very intricate products that were subject to weird issuesāissues that couldnāt always be quickly resolved. The Muse seems potentially like another of those intricate products.
Has this actually been resolved? I see a lot of open box (returns) on Sweetwater, and the bad reviews all mention it. I had such a bad experience with the oscillators constantly drifting on my Slim Phatty that it put me off even looking at Moog since.
Not in a meaningful way from Moog.
After several full tune and calibrates it seems to work ok with the following steps: run a pair of quick tunes after letting the unit be on for 30 minutes and reach 40c, but it doesnāt cooperate well with shifting temperatures. My room doesnāt even shift that much but 68f-74f is enough. Iāve not been using it for a few months (in part because constantly checking the tuning was annoying me).
I havenāt taken the time to see if the recent update fixed things, because hunting for an intermittent instability is such a pain in the ass.
Really sorry to hear that. What a bummer!
Moog Muse users! Has the last update (1.3) fixed most issues? Itās been almost 6 months now and there hasnāt been another update, and still reading about users having issues with it. Curious of your experience with it so far
Interested as well. Almost bought it two times, and Iām always bailing because of the potential tuning issues.
I advise to try one in person.
I did at the Synthfest, then tried the Polybrute 12.
Totally killed my GAS for the Muse.
YMMV but the advice stays sound.
