Long time elektronaut chiming in.
My 1.4 has been in the studio since October '21. Everything runs through it. I use the RCA ins, FX sends/returns and balanced DB25 ins. Prior to the Model 1.4 I was running an SSL Six (I’m not a singer/songwriter). All techno/electro - synths, drum machines, modular and turntables.
- It runs hot(ish), not a problem unless you have no AC and it’s hot out. No smell here. Maybe initially as in burned in. I don’t remember.
- Faders are linear making them feel sensitive the closer you get to the top. I’d prefer a logarithmic curve but you get used to it.
- The master filter, channel filters, and stereo sends are why the 1.4 is the centre of my system. After abusing a lot of eurorack, I love the master HP filter.
I heard about paint issues, fader curves, leds not all being the same brightness, etc… It’s not a scratch mixer - I haven’t worn a label that I can see. I don’t care about the leds or really notice them while performing.
It’s got it’s quirks. Run it high gain and it gets very creamy. You might want to attenuate before your mains.
All this talk makes me want to play…
