Everyone’s suggestions look way shittier than the original design imo.
I concur. Guess its fun using a bit of photoshop.
Im sure someone will bring out a skin cover for it, cancel the logo, make the logo in SP1200 font etc
Or maybe it’ll grow on me…Not the end of the world…Its a beautiful box
It sounds freaking sweet!!!
I started to but in reality the beats I would make on this wouldn’t be any better than the ones I make on my Digitakt, and in fact they’d probably be worse since I’m making such heavy use of locks. It does sound really excellent though and looks like a ton of fun.
Yeah it sounds so good, like so so good right?! I just watched all the vids on puesa’s channel and it looks easy to get along with. I did notice that there seem to be quite a few different menus that are accessed by buttons, where the buttons aren’t labeled with that function (such as the global mutes). It might bug me but you’d obviously memorize them quickly enough.
Sounds good. Is the delay and reverb added outboard then? Lots of button pressing combos going on at the start.
Yes he puts in the description FX are added by other other hardware. Also adds.
“I posted a video yesterday after making a quick beat to showcase pitch error function. I think it is nice to get things sound more organic. It applies small, adjustable random pitch variation to the sound. It’s on the hat, bass and lead sounds”.
That to me is important as its the organic feel im after.(as well as the 12 bit dope lofi)
Hate that feeling.
Do you want me to ask Puesa or Urb for confirmation of this?
The one caveat is even screen powder printed devices can go wrong. A number of Isla S2400 started to flake off badly after only one year.
I grabbed a screenshot of the rear and i think it is definately screen printed. The black lettering is a giveaway as its non reflective. And you don’t usually get vinyl wraps at the back that look like this.
The OG SP1200 printing was an overlay placed on the case. (If I recall correctly)
I suspect the quality of these units are top notch.
This appears to be powder coated
Fear not its powder coated. I know this wont help your gear lust though Nice try though.
The Moog Muse uses a vinyl decal. What a piece of junk
ngl the recessed LEDs do look like a skin on top, moog one has this too it’s meh but not a deal breaker for me. the evolvers and tempest have them too. Powder coated when done well is the best, the original octatracks has this rough porous finish that has not flaked or gotten “shiny” like my smoother powder coated cases on my A4 and Rytm mk1
edit: when i zoom in on the mksrec LED i see a bit of an outline meaning it could just be really tight tolerances/bad pic quality and it’s actually all metal with no sticker/overlay
either way, this thing looks cool. I feel like with how vague all the info is on getting one that most will just pay up for a rossum joint
The thing is its made in Uk. If you want to avoid taxes and customs just shy of £1K then its important. Plus returns etc.
The exchange rate for £ to $ went from $1.27 on August 8 to $1.33 now. It’ll cost about $120 more now to order the MKSREC1 than when the price was first announced earlier this month (for people buying in the US).
Im surprised with the change in the UK government.
Wait a bit. They may come down in price after a bit depending on demand. Maybe better waiting anyway as there always a few firmware issues.
Demand is high for this; I want in on the first batch. I’m just hoping the exchange rate moves back in the other direction before it’s time to order. The price going up is a possibility as well.
I was one of the first to get the Isla S2400 at £950. I thought that was a bit much lol. Now its a screaming bargain. The REC has i think been pitched on the high end to start with. Theres not much between it and the SP1200 (well £1k)
