MKSREC 1 - 12-bit sampling drum machine from puesa

THE PO BOX IS NOT THE ISSUE, MAN!

Honestly, I had a Yamaha TX16W that has 12 bit DAC and I don’t think it sounded good… I think the SP1200 has actual analogue VCF, that is something that really adds to its sound, so it’s not just the converters.

Curious about that clone and how it compares to the Rossum 1200.

You can get a good idea of how it sounds from demos and it sounds good to me. I could actually even hear what I didn’t like about the S2400 from YouTube demos as well. 12-bit converters are only part of the audio path obviously.

I’ve owned the OG and an SP12 decades ago. I also owned the new Rossum for a bit too. I couldn’t jive with the size anymore; just a tad too bulky. I don’t care for all the ā€œauthenticā€ limitations either. The MKSREC1 is based on the original design and sounds much closer to the OG than the S2400, which is good enough considering the more compact footprint along with all the improved features I want.

I’ve owned 2 Isla 2400’s and i loved the sound. Im not sure if my tired ears could tell the difference. But i told Brad to stop expanding and he just kept on going. Would like a manual before buying the new clone.

Sold!

I wish they would’ve made a better logo for it, and/or not made it so awkwardly huge.

Yeah, and also it was like they said, hey, we have this big space up here, let’s make sure to fill all up by stretching the logo to cover it all.

On the other hand, I suppose it’s also a great space to put your own sticker or something.

I kind of like the weird Logo. It has a Sci Fi unusualness about it. With the colour like an intergalactic spaceship lol.

Are you getting one?

You wont even notice it when you hear that legendary sound of the SP1200

That’s good marketing, I like that.

Just not a fan of the existing logo…Has a eurorack feel about it.

I will probably cover it with some Keith Haring stickers lol

No more fumbling at the back to adjust the filters. This is my favourite upgrade.

I would prefer something minimal on the front panel (not necessarily that typeface, or design, just showing size).

The colors of the case, buttons, knobs are a great, just need to knock down that logo quite a bit.
