It’s so true that it’s not even funny.
They actually did leave the van sliding door wide open too and that’s part of why it was extra loud, although my neighborhood is ok, it’s not like a dense urban block but still.

Sorry you were subjected to sonic warfare. Been there myself but never with mariachi trumpets as the weapon of choice.
Never checked the salary on offer for Amazon drivers, but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a minimum wage zero-benefits gig … like the last job in the U.S. that anyone with a clean driving record can get.

I knew someone who worked for Amazon and if I recall correctly the pay for this job was actually good relative to other entry level “unskilled labor” (I hate that term but you know what I mean). No idea about benefits though.
I watched an Amazon driver get arrested a few weeks ago. No idea what, if anything, preceded that event but it apparently took like 5 cops, two of which had guns drawn, to arrest one dude who couldn’t have been more than 5’6 and 130 pounds. Dude was compliant as could be, and they were way rougher than the situation called for. At least he survived the encounter with the pigs, I guess.

My time in NYC had live mariachi bands, with full accordion and upright bass, hop on the subways….at like 530 am
I always threw them money cause I love mariachi music.

I haven’t felt the need to flag anything. No one has said anything to me that crossed a line.
I have certainly seen posts flagged by others recently, posts that may have gone too far, since the flagged posts were often part of arguments; I couldn’t read the flagged posts so have no strong opinion. People have also pulled their own posts sometimes. All that seems like part of the normal metabolism of the forum.
I think the system here works well. Things just seem tense around the place lately. I assume it will pass in time—this is a good community.

But it does seem flagging is “I wanna bend this forum to my echo chamber” a lot of the time.
Maybe mods should unflag stuff that isn’t offensive or not out of line, or if 1
person is personally objecting, it doesn’t overrule the the theme or spirit of the post
(I’ll prolly get dinged for this)
(We all know there are ‘shadow mods’ who flag things just to get mods attention and wish to be mods)

I’m gonna give one in the plus column for Amazon drivers …. Mine always has his dog with him, offlead… que panic… but when I first opened the door my dog flew out, made a new best friend.
Now every delivery, while I’m signing and making sure it’s actually what I fucking ordered, the dogs go mad playing together in the garden. Think my dog loves Amazon deliveries more than my wife…

It’s the seriousness that people have around their bullshit that’s the problem.
There’s a hardcore of negative pricks that are completely unable (or unwilling) to have a laugh at themselves, yet give out so many opportunities for people to take the piss out of them.
If people want to sit up on a pedestal sneering, they have to be ready for people to sneer back, and these lot ain’t nearly ready.
Also, if you’re on an electronic music forum and you haven’t heard of Mick Harris, your opinion means less to me.
