It’s borderline insane. People forget why they were attracted to something in the first place. I didn’t sell my Digitone or Digitone Keys when I got a Digitone II. They aren’t invalidated suddenly, rather, their function changes and becomes dedicated. Instead of looking at it as a 4 track groovebox, I can use it as an 8 voice synth over 1 track and have different patches and patterns ready to go in other tracks. I can freely utilize unison settings which under normal “groovebox” operation would not be applicable with voice limitations. I can run main outs to a hardware pedal without a care in the world about how that is going to affect other tracks because I am only using one.

Having already participated in the SSL threads for ST, I can say the idea of there not being much of a community is not the case.
The new Zero Division thread can be fun, but from the ST SSLs I’m already seeing a core group of people communicating on a more regular basis, and then seeing it spill into other threads. So long as they don’t change their avatar, I could see this building more.
Even in this thread. I pop in every once in a while and see the same names participating. It’s a community.
While I fully understand this thread is dedicated to whingeing, so maybe the optimistic outlook is not appreciated here, but I see something building thanks to @Nils
I don’t know what it used to be like here, as I joined in 2022, but I do think things will build because they have to.
We’re exiting what I like to consider a blip in history. Much is changing and we’re likely going to see less about buying very soon. My general outlook is very much in line with needing a home for whingeing, but aside from that, I do think a stronger community is coming.

To me, the og DN has always been more of a multitimbral synth anyway. I don’t get why everything should be a ‘do it all’ box. Especially with it now being superseded by the II it feels like a more focussed tool.

At least golf isn’t associated with a particular public figure, but yeah.
If I could muster the motivation, I might get more into trying to make music with a Raspberry Pi or something.
At least the hardware hype has given me something to look forward to with regards to the music tech world - some of my other interests, I can’t really say the same.
Now, for the rant. Like, why should I have to be interested in another shooter that punishes solo kill hunting play, or only rewards it in a permadeath context? Why do I have to play just RPGs again if I want any semblance of character customization? What’s up with the car market, why is it only for those who like their cars big and tall with accordingly sized engines, as someone who finds lower riding cars sexier (and also likes EVs save for Teslas)? Thank the stars that the music tech scene seems to be doing better and/or appeals a lot to me, although the rampant consumerism and live service model is a problem. I just wish I got ideas.
I just tried launching Waveform and it got bogged down because my system configuration is funny. Still gonna keep using it, but I do want to work with hardware (or a very limited computer) so I can focus on the DAW more. I’ll still need my powerful desktop for more general use, seldom music-related.
I had to sell my DN2 for money, I was just beginning to cook up something good on it. I hope I can do the same with my unfinished DAW projects and other hardware (at the very least with a MIDI controller hooked up to my computer if not with a sound module).
oh man so that’s universal? I stopped going mtb for the same exact reason people looking at me and my ssr as if I’m mentally ill, the funniest thing I was doing with my fixed gear is going to a place where roadies with matching pink outfits were doing their “training” chugging on their gels and electrolytes huffing and puffing measuring their watts sniffing each others assholes and I had a flask of whiskey on the bike, so I was doing couple of laps and then sitting there drinking some nice scotch and that was making them furious for some reason. good times.

As a miserable git and occasional golfer twat, if you think elektronauts is gear oriented never lay your eyes on a golfing forum.
The number of people who adamantly refuse to practice even 30m a week, but drop 1000€+ on a set of new irons or a driver instead of fixing their shit swing is insane. With the obvious result, they play as shit as ever, cause only sweat and boring practice takes you anywhere. I haven’t opened a golf forum in a long time nor I have any desire to do so.
I used to be quite into scale modeling and miniature painting in a previous life, and let me tell you, the amount of people who seemed to collect boxes of unpainted figures in the attic but never seemed to paint a single one… at the same time having an opinion and harsh criticism in every product announcement thread. Insufferable twats the lot of them. Those places I miss a bit more, if you ignore the twats, knowledgable , friendly and talented people are to be found there.
I suppose it’s just human nature, and it rears its ugly head in every human endeavour or pastime. Elektronauts can be tiring sometimes but is so much nicer than most places, even music related. Gearspace? Kvr? Just, nooooo!

There is a sense of community here in the same sense that there is a sense of community in The Walking Dead, which is a show that I did not watch, but where we are surrounded by something like zombie gear vampires and the remaining humans are grouped into small unmitigated factions distrustful of each other who will cut your throat if you ever say an unkind word about their lord and savior gear brand X.
Same fuckin people who want to fight with you about your opinion on a piece of gear they bought are returning the same thing to the manufacturer 17 days later.
Right shame having to mute so many people and threads but I’m not here to argue, especially about how someone feels regarding how much I do or do not like a fucking groovebox.

I honestly didn’t feel the need until relatively recently. I mostly stick to muting threads, but there are a handful of people that I’ve been really tempted to over the last couple weeks. They contribute just enough outside of arguing that I haven’t, but damn it’s tempting.
Low-important whinge: getting up at 5:30 AM I’m ready to eat lunch at like 10 and it feels fucking weird. It’s also highly inconvenient because I don’t want to eat breakfast food for lunch, I want to eat lunch food for lunch and if I don’t have something prepared I can’t go get lunch food for lunch, because nothing that serves it is open.

These have probably occurred to you, but you might look at the glycemic indices of your breakfast foods and see if you can’t raise them to make breakfast last longer. But it won’t last six hours, so maybe some savoury snacks in mid-morning? Spiced nuts, crackers and cheese, that sort of thing.

DHL are a bunch of lazy bastards though. Holiday or not. One can’t keep a drum machine from getting delivered before the weekend.
