MIDI problem: Using Elektron Monomachine to sequence Blofeld desktop

Problem

Getting no sound when you to use the Monomachine to sequence a Blofeld desktop?

Solution

The third CC parameter knob on the Monomachine MIDI tracks are set by default to control volume. Turn that up, and you will get sound from the Blofeld.

I don’t have a mnm but it just seems bizarre that a default setting would have the volume at zero! What is the actual cc# of the mnm cc3 knob?

There’s a known bug / issue with the Monomachine where it seems to send a volume cc message (not sure what the exact message is) with a value of 0 the first time a sequenced midi note is triggered, and you end up with a silent synth. It doesn’t happen with all my gear, eg it’s never happened with my Peak, but it happens consistently with my SE-02.

Power cycling the synth also fixes it, as after the first sequenced note is sent the MM doesn’t seem to do it again.

I just recently I started exploring the capabilities of the MnM’s midi sequencer. And since I own both, a KORG Wavestation and a YAMAHA SY 35, I tried controlling these synths via midi (using a Kenton Thru-Box). The WS was set to multi-mode (controlling different internal performances/patches assigned to different sequencer channels on the MnM) and the SY was simply assigned a basic midi receive channel and also controlled by the MnM’s according track.
