Could you elaborate? I guess MF also sends velocity. Did you configurate Mod Matrix with Aftertouch as source?
Yes, as I recall, on the MF you have to choose between velocity and aftertouch. So, if I had to wager a bet, I’d say that’s the issue.
Cheers!
Very much agree. Would like to take my MM2 to the park right now but that means taking a keyboard. So I hope it can somehow be squeezed into a firmware release ?
In the meantime, I will need to find a phone app that can send simple midi arpeggios.
EDIT: First world problems, eh ?
Why not using simple notes send and MM2’s arp?
Turns out I already have grid instrument and it’s good for this purpose.
MF can send either velocity or aftertouch (this is a keyboard config, not a MIDI config). I have it configured for aftertouch. I can see the MIDI events leaving MF so it is not an MF issue. When I press and hold a key, I see a NOTE ON event. When I wiggle my finger, I see AFTERTOUCH events. In MM, I have Mod1 set to source “aftertouch” and destination “pitch”. No change in sound when I wiggle my finger. If I change Mod1 source to “velocity”, I hear the change. Perhaps @renderful or someone else with a Microfreak can try the experiment?
MF sends poly aftertouch, it won’t work with MM2.
Ah, okay, thanks. I clearly have to get a keyboard or controller worthy of the MM2…!
Ok so this will get you in the ballpark
There’s some play in the relationship between note and the sweet spots in the filter to get things more or less ‘liquidy’.
If I skip over a setting in this description then it was left the same as default in an init. patch, so you can just leave those be for now.

Set your bpm to 200.
Make sure clock src is internal.
Turn on Arp
Arp: u&d, gate 40, oct1, speed /32
You can leave the Arp pattern as is
Light effects to taste…
Delay: mod1, tim127, fbk16, lvl11
Reverb: dcy 20, mod6, lvl40
Have fun!
Thanks! Gosh, that is intricate. I doubt I would have stumbled into it. Looking forward to trying it out.
I might have taken the scenic route lol. Surely there are other ways to land in a similar place.
Envelope setting, filter settings and the Arp’s speed and gate are the big players here. You could probably change a lot of the rest of the settings and not much will change for the end ‘kinda funked up watery’ sound.
Let me know how it goes!
Does that mean you can route the audio input to the BB to the output ? I was researching that the other day and came to the conclusion (reading the manual) that you couldn’t. Seemed like it was for recording only.
Yep, If you set recording monitoring to ‘on’ it routes the audio in to the selected out + phones.
Edit: my bad! I thought we were in the bb thread.
But the bb and the mm2 do go very very well together.
With your answer I‘m now even more convinced of that … tempted to get one, but I think I should get comfortable with the mm2 first.
Arpeggiator is super flexible (particularly selecting note and ‘>’ and ‘<’), almost like having another sequenced track … would certainly work for some basslines. E.g. bassline for one or two notes played: 1oo2>oo< with speed 1/4 and bpm 120
Feature request: Since, while on the ARPG pages, the ‘yes’ and ‘no’ buttons have no purpose, would be a really neat shortcut, if ‘yes’ was to toggle ‘latch’ on/off, and perhaps have ‘no’ toggle the arpeggiator on/off.
Received my MM2 at the end of last week (2 days to get from Paris to my doorstep in NC!). I’ve been enjoying exploring it in my free time and plan to right up some more detailed thoughts soon. I love the way that the mono/bi/combo modes work.
Until then, here’s a lil jam utilizing two timbres. The arp is latched to some notes… I’m messing with the patch settings on the arp while lazily playing another part on the keys. One take through the Bluebox (with a little compression)
Edit: I can’t get the embedded player to work. I guess one can right click to copy address and open in a new tab maybe it’s not meant to be shared
@bibenu yes, the arp is really flexible! My favorite arp I’ve seen on a synth so far. The above jam is without the arp input changing at all! And thanks for that heads-up, I didn’t realize that the yes/no buttons did things on other pages
Looking forward to sharing patches and ideas with you all
I went through the presets, and then I started through them again while twisting knobs. Many of them are surprisingly resilient to being tweaked and have quite a wide range. I’ve decided that P050 through P055 should be subtitled “Lyra at Oxford”.
Still haven’t tried bi-timbral yet, or even external sequencing, which were my original intentions in purchasing. I’ll get there!
Do the oscillator type ‘categories’ (bass, pad, etc) do anything more than providing a note to read on screen ?
I’m thinking it would be kind of handy, when loading a preset, to scroll through only basses, or only pads etc, but I’ve read the manual, and I’ve tried random button combos, and so far as I can tell, that isn’t a current feature ?
Yeah, I’ve never found a way to sort or filter by type. They just provide a little extra context in addition to the patch number and name (which I appreciate because the max length of patch names is always somehow 2 characters too short for the name I want).
This would definitely be handy! I like the visual cue that an arp/latch is on
