Just got the email. Excited to learn more!
Edit: a few videos got published
Interesting!
This looks pretty cool. I used to have the original Enzo, and it was a pretty fun pedal. I will be interested to see what the xl version adds.
Looks cool for string players. Lots of pedals moving towards creating a ‘synthesizer’ in a pedal form. The price points are crossing over to full-fledged synth territory.
This makes sense with most of the teasers they put out. I don’t think there’s another pedal with this level of polyphonic pitch tracking out there. I didn’t dig in deep but it would be interesting if you could pass thru the midi data generated by your guitar playing of the 6 voices to an external synth. I’m not a guitar player but putting one of these in front of a guitar playing friend and having them control one of my synths seems like an interesting prospect. That being said, on initial glance the actual synth here seems a little vanilla.
I’m a huge fan of the mercury x and find it to be the best UI for a very complex effects unit I’ve come across. I was really hoping for an Ottobit X for a fully fleshed out version of that device and to offer some of what the Oto Biscuit did.
And winds! The OG Enzo did really cool stuff on my saxophone. I ended up sticking with the Eventide H9/90 stuff, but always missed the more synth-focus sounds of Enzo. This might be for me.
It can also receive midi notes to play with a midi keyboards, so it can alao work as a self contained synth module. That sounds pretty exciting!
The boss gm-800 can do this as well and you get access to the zenology stuff!
This is a great sounding and looking pedal by meris. I love guitar synth stuff!
Oooof. I have the original Enzo and think I may have to replace it with this. Soooo much of an upgrade! Really love the original but wanted more envelope control and parameters for the arp. This delivers in spades!
It doesn’t seem to send midi notes out, which is a shame
Bummer. My main guitar buddy has used midi converters in the past but they generally only track mono stuff well so it’s limited to pretty simple basslines/leads. I have not looked at that space for a few years though so maybe there are improvements.
Back on the Enzo X, it seems like an excellent tool for one person bands or multi-instrumentalists in small groups that want to beef up their live sound without relying on backing tracks. Unlike other Meris stuff, I just don’t really see much use case for synth players who already have a poly synth or two, which is fine as not everything has to cater to everyone.
I’ve sent this feedback to Eventide more than once. If it’s tracking me so damn well, I’d give up a whole effects slot in a patch that sent midi notes out from an acoustic instrument.
I got excited because I’m on the verge of acquiring a Godin Multiac with synth access 13 pin system, but I think this only operates with TS cable like any regular old guitar, or 5 pin MIDI.
Still, sounds great in the demos. I think it’s along the lines of something I wish for, but can’t justify 1000 CAD.
Yeah, this one is quite tempting
I had the original enzo for a short while, but sent it back in the 30-day return window, as I found it to be quite limited. This new one seems to add so many cool things! I’m dedicated to stick to the gear I already have for this year, but it’s nice to know that an updated enzo is out there now. I’ve only watched a few videos so far, but it seems they’ve removed the compressor that was on the original enzo, right?
Why do I want a synth with the worst interface I have ever seen, when I have a room filled of synth’s? I’m not sure what the point is… but maybe I’m not the target audience…
Neighbors dog is named Enzo! Cool dog so I’m guessing the pedal will be cool!
I’ve been playing a lot of guitar lately so this seems fun, obviously it’s under powered compared to most of my other boards. The main benefit for me is the guitar as the UI instead of an old piano keyboard / mouse.
