Max for Live devices that work with Push 3 Standalone

So this is envisioned to work like octatrack scenes?

Yeah pretty similar but merging between 4 snapshots.

I think there may be some people interested in that here :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Not sure if I get it how it works exactly (not familiar with Octatrack), but if it does what I think it does, it seems really great!

Count me in!

Sounds like I haven’t been wasting my time… thanks for the encouragement. The core functionality is working as described above, there are a few UI and functionality tweaks I want to make (allow users to choose slot colours, quick select transition times using bottom row, edit parameters for all or selected slots etc)… feel free to DM if you have any ideas. I’m working on beta for both Ableton and push 3 so will have to check whether it’s working correctly on official release. I better get on with it!

in basic terms it allows you take (currently) up to 48 snapshots of the whole live set and then either a) do a tempo synced or instant transition between the current and a new snapshot (this is a bit like the left side of the Neuzeit Drop I’m guessing, I haven’t got one so don’t quote me on that) or b) choose 4 of the 48 snapshots and then transition smoothly between those using x, y pad (this is partly what the octatrack does with its scenes/ slider but only between 2)

Can you make a crossfader swap between them?

Awesome! Very much interested!

an external crossfader or something on the pads… I think the latter is what I’ve done when I hook it up to the new x-y touch pad functionality on the push?

I perhaps need to make a video… only got a crappy iPhone though so it might not be the best

Please do so!
Very curious :hugs:

Not pads, a crossfader, like on an APC 40mk2  or just make it midi mappable, that’s what I’m saying.

Got it. It should work… one of the device’s x or y dials could be midi mapped meaning you can morph through just one axis using a cross fader. I’ll let you know.

Are there other m4l-devices that take over the Push-surface, besides Dyad and Sting2? I really enjoy using both very much because they are so hands on.

Some of the Novel sequencers do this equally well.

I really enjoy Ian’s granular machine called Celestine:

It doesn’t take over the pads, but the integration is brilliant and the soundscapes you can get from it are unbelievable.

I’ve never used it but Sidebrain created a rhythm generator which does take over the pads:

I’m getting there with this device… will be doing a short demo video this weekend. Got it working with an external midi slider which means you can keep the ā€œslots viewā€ up to swap the 4 corner scenes more easily but works well with the push’s xy pad too. Have set it up so you can use on all tracks (available as a third choice between notes and session views). Thanks for the likes really gave me the kick to try to finish this off.

Very keen to try this when it’s ready!

I use the old Max device called Smooth Automator to change to variations over a defined period but it’s pretty unreliable.
So I’d love to try out your new device.
