Nope, unfortunately not, because Apple doesn’t support a very specific web browser api (web.serial) in any browsers on iOS.
That said, if you have a desktop or laptop that is set up as an “always on” workstation, you can use something like Steam Remote Play (Steam Remote Play) to access it from an iPad and stream the audio back to the device. That configuration is a little iffy and requires adding some custom shortcuts to steam, etc., but that’s how I’ve been using headless with my phone while waiting for more units to come available. It’s nice because Steam already has a bunch of well built stuff to handle low-latency and zero-config gamepad sync to the host machine, but if I didn’t already have that stuff all set up for gaming on my phone anyway it probably would have been a pain to set up
Quick tables question. I’m probably being daft, but I seem to have done something.
No matter what table speed setting I set, the table now always resets to step 0 every time a note in the phrase is triggered.
This was working fine before (ie. the table played through the whole sequence) but I have done something and now it is doing this resetting to 0 on note trigger.
There is nothing in the table or phrase fx (eg. Hops) that are doing it.
If I load up a new blank song it works fine again. Any clues as to what I have done and how to undo it?
Ta!
Oh I get plenty of anger/etc either as passive aggressive comments on random posts or private email or reddit. Appreciated non the less. I am just trying to do the best I can and not totally mess something up. I wish other companies were more transparent so I try my best there as well- helps being a team of 1.
You’re doing a great job dude, pretty awesome that you’ve been able to do this, you can be proud of it for the rest of your life and hopefully it’s a product you can sell for many years.
I found a game pad much better than using a keyboard, and it allows you to mimic the set up of the hardware to a better degree.
I started with the headless, and although I wasn’t experienced with trackers, I found it quite quick to learn. And it’s not too dissimilar conceptually from an Elektron device.
I have found the experience of using the actual hardware of the M8 to be an enhanced experience, as it’s all so integrated and the buttons layout is intuitive. But if you enjoy the headless, then you’ll absolutely love the M8 once you get one.
I’ve had mine about 5/6 weeks now, and I’m blown away by the capabilities that it has.
I think I’m not understanding what you’re saying, because I would have thought that’s how it always works? When you have a note on a step of a phrase, the table of the instrument of that step will always start at 0, right?
And when anything else on that phrase plays, it’ll cut off anything that’s already playing, which will practically reset the table to 0.
I wouldn’t think table speed would have anything to do with it. It just sets how fast it moves step to step, not what step the table starts on.
But like I say, I’m probably not getting what you’re trying to do. Can you give an example?
8bitdo (https://www.8bitdo.com/) sells some relatively affordable bluetooth controllers, but xbox one and ps4 controllers all should also support bluetooth and be mac compatible.
I spent a lot of time in grad school practicing bassoon with a chromatic tuner. One of my fellow students and I found we could imagine a tuner in front of us, then play at A=440 (adjusted for whatever note). Not exactly absolute pitch…
This is the standard behaviour. I’m no table expert, but from my experience, it only changes if you either set table speed to 0 (table doesn’t move, but advances by one row on each note), or if you remove the instrument number for the triggered note (but this also won’t trigger the envelopes). Again, I may be missing something, but the default behaviour is that it resets on every triggered note.
Yeah, thanks @pselodux& @jemmons.
As expected, I was being daft. I must have had it set on note increment initially (table tic 00) on in a phrase with 16th note hi hats, and then that was how I thought the normal function of the table was (ie. free running, not tied to note triggers). But clearly that is not the case. Starting to get it now…
Haha sorry! The clear switches and blue clickies look great though!!
In related news, I’ve been dyeing caps today to get some alternative colours. Going to do a bunch of others… if I don’t die from the fumes before then.
Those look amazing! In a turn of events, the EU is going to become the new capital of custom colored key caps and we in the states will have to pay outrageous shipping to get them from your kitchen
One workaround is not putting an instrument in the instrument column. The normal behavior is that the envelopes/table won’t be retriggered, and the note will slide. But if you wanted to to keep a particular rhythm by using retrigs (RET10) in a table (or something else), you could do this.
I realize this problem has already been solved, just figured I’d share.
