M8 Tracker

I’m excited to hear what you do with the new(ish) Table FE behavior, since it feels like you could create your own punch-in effects with it

Wait what?

There’s a new beta on the discord with a number of changes. A couple immediate standouts are the Lazy Chop and new waveforms from the Wavsynth available in the FM instrument!

I haven’t done it yet, but my rationale is:

  • Table FE maps to notes
  • You can put any arbitrary commands in the table, including global values like reverb settings
  • Hook up a midi controller to the instrument
  • Homemade punch-in effects?

The depth of this thing…

If it works, this is really the king of things I’ve been missing on the M8

gotta give @brian3kb a shout out for making such a wonderful tool with digichain. love that the M8 is in there in the “common configurations” for the audio settings. gonna make this sample chain process real smooth

Every time I turn this instrument on, I’m reminded of how absurdly cool it is!

Tonight, I installed the beta firmware 4.1 and played around with the new FM synthesizer for 10 minutes. It’s really cool! Here’s 1 track, 1 phrase and 1 FM instrument with different wavetables in the operators.

I wish I understood FM properly! :joy: I can get happy accidents out of the FM instrument but really have no idea what I’m doing with it.

It’s hard to fathom the extent of applications there is to this in a live context

Just about every owner of a FM synth has consistently said that since about 1983

Still no shipping confirmation…Ordered in the last batch a few weeks back

Itching…

You should probably reach out to Tim if you haven’t already.

I tried to write an illuminating introduction to the FM Synth without getting too far into the weeds. It might be helpful.

There’s a good thread for that here on elektronauts.
